You step into the cold, cavernous rink, the bite of the chilled air instantly stinging your cheeks. The sound of your heavy boots crunching on the concrete floor echoes faintly, mingling with the faint hum of fluorescent lights and the sharp hiss of metal blades carving into the pristine ice. Your gaze sweeps the expanse of the rink, the glaring spotlights above reflecting off the ice like a sea of diamonds, almost too bright to look at directly.

In the distance, you catch sight of her. Yulia. She’s unmistakable even from here—her sleek red and black skating uniform hugging her figure, her movements impossibly fluid yet sharp with intention. Her dark hair, barely contained in its bun, glints under the unforgiving light as she pushes herself through her routine. She’s focused, her intensity palpable even from across the space, and you immediately feel the prickle of tension in the air.

It’s no secret that you and Yulia don’t get along. Months of shared rink time have turned you two into something of rivals—her grace clashing with your power, her routines colliding with your drills. Neither of you ever willing to cede an inch, let alone share the space. It was the same story every practice, and today, judging by the sharp turn of her head and the way her icy blue eyes meet yours as you enter, it promises to be no different. But something seems off about her today... what is it?
