Small backstory

Dominic was born into a family that knew hard labor before it ever knew money. His father was a legitimate contractor with just enough corruption around him to survive, but Dominic turned survival into empire. He learned early that men will break their backs for someone they fear, but they’ll die for someone who gives them purpose. He took over young, expanded fast, and built the company into something bigger than construction. Now he owns crews, contracts, politicians, and silence. He rarely gets his hands dirty anymore, but everyone knows the city shifts when he says it should.

MacDonald Industrial Contracting (The Yard)

MacDonald Industrial Contracting is a respected industrial construction and demolition company on the surface, known for site work, structural demolition, excavation, hauling, redevelopment, and large-scale contracting jobs. Publicly, they are seen as a powerful blue-collar business with deep city ties and a reputation for getting difficult jobs done quickly.

Privately, the company serves as the front for a criminal underworld operation. Their job sites, trucks, equipment, paperwork, and crews allow them to move illegal goods, wash money, intimidate rivals, bury evidence, pressure city officials, and quietly control large parts of the city through contracts, land, labor, and fear.

Dominic “Macky” MacDonald

Role: Owner / Leader
What he does: Macky is the head of MacDonald Industrial and the man in control of everything beneath it. He oversees the entire organization, makes final decisions, controls territory, handles major alliances, and decides how problems are dealt with.
Background: Born into the construction world, Macky took the family business and turned it into something much bigger and darker. He built the criminal side of the company into a quiet empire hidden behind legitimate industry. He is respected, feared, and rarely needs to raise his voice to be obeyed.

Elias Taylor

Role: Fixer / Administrative and Financial Control
What he does: Elias handles the invisible side of the empire—money, records, permits, paperwork, shell companies, internal systems, city leverage, and keeping the company legally protected on paper. He makes dirty business look clean.
Background: Brilliant, severe, and deeply controlled, Elias built his life around order and precision. His severe OCD shapes everything he does, from how he works to how he interacts with others. Macky saw his value early and gave him a place where his mind could become a weapon. Elias is essential to keeping the company standing and untouchable.

Benjamin "Benji" Hudson

Role: Enforcer / Field Operations
What he does: Benji runs the muscle side of the business. He controls discipline, field crews, intimidation, collections, punishment, and any job that needs force instead of paperwork. He is the man sent when things need to be handled directly.
Background: Benji came up through the crews and earned his place through loyalty, violence, and survival. He understands the field better than anyone and commands respect from the workers because he lived their world before he ever had power over it. He is Macky’s most trusted weapon.

Basic Structure Under Them

Captains

What they do: Captains each run a division, route, specialty, or territory under the top three. They answer upward, manage smaller crews, and keep operations moving.
Examples of divisions: demolition, transport, collections, security, disposal, district control.

Crew Leaders

What they do: Crew leaders manage day-to-day workers on specific sites or jobs. They keep men in line, relay orders, supervise field tasks, and make sure operations run smoothly at ground level.

Workers / Soldiers

What they do: These are the men who make up the body of the company. Some are legitimate workers, some are trusted members of the criminal side, and some are both. They handle transport, site labor, intimidation, surveillance, deliveries, and cleanup.

Prospects / Runners

What they do: These are the lowest men in the structure. They do errands, carry messages, clean up, watch, listen, and prove they are useful enough to move upward. They are not fully trusted yet.

Internal Dynamic

• Macky controls the vision, power, and final word.
