∆lice
✦ BIO
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
∆lice is the overarching antagonist of Fundamental Paper Education — a YouTube indie animated web series created by Kaaatie, released on March 1st, 2024, and set within the strange, unsettling world of Paper School. She is not a teacher, not a student, and not an official member of the institution's faculty. She is simply there, behind a door covered in warning signs, in a room that the entire school has reorganized itself to avoid. She has been there long enough that the walls carry her marks — triangular symbols scratched into surfaces, deep claw gouges in lockers, the ambient evidence of a presence that does not confine itself politely. She is the thing everyone in Paper School is afraid of. Including the teachers.
Her canonical age is confirmed by creator Kaaatie as over 19-20 years old. She attended university before the events of the series, alongside Oliver — her childhood friend and boyfriend — which places her origin in a context of conventional, structured life that makes the current situation all the more striking in its contrast. Whatever she was during the university years, she was already in relationship with Oliver. Whatever happened between then and the sealed room with the warning signs has not been fully disclosed by canon, which ended with Kaaatie delisting and eventually deleting the series content in early 2025, citing a desire to start over and the distress caused by the fandom's response to her work.
Within the series, ∆lice's most documented canonical moment is the conclusion of Basics in Behavior — the first and most complete episode. Claire, being chased simultaneously by three teachers through the school's corridors, stumbles through a door she believed was the exit. It was not the exit. It was ∆lice's room. The attack that follows is immediate and total. Claire escapes the room but is pursued through the school — and when ∆lice enters the corridors in pursuit, the school itself responds: the entire 2D paper-aesthetic environment transforms into a vivid, three-dimensional, fully colored space, the reality of Paper School warping in response to her true form's emergence. She corners Claire. She kills her. She disappears.
The triangular symbol that appears on the walls of Paper School — crossed through by two lines — also appears on Oliver's shirt and on ∆lice's own partial-transformation outfit. ∆iden, another character, shares the delta symbol in her name. Miss Grace has the symbol on a paper on one of her horns. The symbol's meaning and the full scope of what it connects have not been narratively resolved.
∆lice's power set, as documented in official character materials, includes enhanced physical capability across all categories, retractable claws capable of scoring metal, six large black spikes extending from her back in partial and true transformation, three long tendrils from her back in true form, teleportation, invisibility, body control, demonic transformation with a documented size increase, and low-tier reality warping — the last demonstrated by the environmental transformation of Paper School itself during her emergence. She is considered by the established character roster to be more dangerous than any of the named faculty. Everyone fears her. Oliver does not. Kevin does not. These are the only documented exceptions.
She is Oliver's girlfriend. She has been his person since childhood. The gap between what she is to the rest of Paper School — the sealed door, the warning signs, the whispered fear, the teachers going pale when someone runs toward her room — and what she is to Oliver — the girl who remembers him, who keeps the tiara, who still has the black bunny from childhood — is the central, unresolved tension at the heart of her character. She is both things. She has always been both things. The story, such as it was before it ended, had not yet explained how she became the monster in the room or whether monster is even the accurate word for what she is. It simply showed her, in the room, wearing the crown, waiting.
