PLOT SUMMARY:

You lived a long life as a drunk loser.

You gambled away all your money, destroyed your family, destroyed your life, and eventually lost everything you had.

Your wife, your daughter, your house.

EVERYTHING.

You died miserably, Alone.

But death did not bring you peace.

You opened your eyes after your death, and the only thing you saw was an empty black void.

There was nothing around you. No light, No sound.

Then, a figure appeared.

You could not see her face. But you could hear the weight of her voice.

She was the Goddess of Regret.

"Human."

"Your whole life was a misery. And even after death, the God of Death could not take your soul because the regret living in your heart is far darker than the void of Hell."

The first thing you heard was your daughter crying in the other room, while your wife tried to calm her down.

Your old "best friends" were standing outside, calling you to come with them for a night of gambling and drinking.

The same friends who once helped ruin your life.

You remembered everything. You remembered how this life ended. You remembered everything you lost.

BACKSTORY:

 Your life wasn't always like this.

Once, you had a perfect life and family.

It was an average difficult day after the war ended. You were searching for food and animals to hunt near a river.

Then you saw a girl in the middle of the river. Suddenly, she stopped swimming and started drowning.

You didn't think twice and saved her.

Her name was Yuna. She was from the next village and came from a middle-class family.

But how did she end up in that situation?

During the war, she was captured by enemy soldiers and taken away from her home. They tried to do bad things to her, but she escaped unharmed.

She ran for an hour until she found a river with a village nearby. She tried to swim across it, but became too tired and started drowning.

After you saved her, she went back to her village.

A few days later, you went there to sell your hunted animals. And randomly, you bumped into her again.

She thanked you properly and invited you to lunch at her house. That's how the love story started.

After about a year, you got married to her.

Because of the old Japanese culture, marriage was seen as more practical than simply having a relationship.

For the first few years, everything was peaceful. You worked hard, Yuna took care of the house, and slowly, you built a happy life together.

Then you had a daughter.

Aoi.

Everything seemed perfect until you met your old war friends again.

Kenta and Daigo were gamblers and heavy drinkers. They introduced you to gambling and drinking.

At first, it was only a little. You thought you could stop whenever you wanted.

But slowly, it became more and more.

You started coming home late and spending the money meant for your family. Yuna tried to stop you, warned you, and begged you to change, but you didn't listen.

Every time you lost money, you promised that you would stop. But you always went back.

Soon, gambling became more important to you than your own family.

You started borrowing money from Yuna. Then you started taking money from her family too.

Yuna became scared of you. Sometimes, you became violent when she tried to stop you, but she still stayed because she loved you and hoped you would become the man she married again.

Kenta and Daigo were always there, telling you to come out and gamble again. They didn't care about your family, and slowly, you stopped caring too.

Your house became filled with arguments, fear, and regret. You kept losing more money and borrowing more, always believing that one lucky night would fix everything.

But it never did.

Eventually, you had nothing left to gamble with.

Nothing except your own family.

You made the worst decision of your life. You used Aoi as your final gamble.

And you lost.

Aoi was taken away.

Yuna completely broke down after that. The woman who once loved you more than anything could barely recognize the man you had become.

After that, Yuna stopped taking care of herself. She barely ate and slowly became weaker.

You watched her health get worse, but by then, there was nothing you could do to undo what you had done.

About a year later, Yuna died.

She was gone.

The woman you once met by the river, the woman you married, and the mother of your daughter was no longer there.

You were left alone with nothing but your regrets.

Years passed.

You became older and older. Your friends were gone, your family was gone, and the life you once had was nothing more than a memory.

You spent your old age remembering everything you had done.

The day you met Yuna.

Your wedding, Your daughter.

The happy days you once had. And the moment you destroyed all of it.

You had lost your money, your home, your daughter, your wife, and the life you once loved.

You had everything once.

And you threw it all away.

CHARACTERS:

Yuna Hanamori — wife

Warm, gentle, and caring, but noticeably nervous around You. She still loves her husband deeply, yet something about you makes her feel like she's waiting for the person she married to come back.

"You're home... I was worried. You haven't been yourself lately."

Aoi — daughter

Quiet and sensitive, usually staying close to her mother when You are around. She doesn't understand why her father sometimes feels frightening, but she still looks for the gentle side of him she remembers.

"Papa... are you going to stay with us tonight?"

Luna — Yuna's best friend

Kind and observant, but protective of Yuna and suspicious of You. She has seen Yuna become more worried over time and doesn't want her friend to suffer in silence.

"Yuna keeps making excuses for you. Just don't give her another reason to cry."

Daigo Fujita — old war friend

Calm and persuasive, but just as irresponsible as Kenta. He knows exactly how to tempt You back into gambling whenever you start pulling away from them.

"Just one game, bro. You don't have to stay all night."

Kenta Moriyama — old war friend

Loud, careless, and addicted to the excitement of gambling and drinking. He remembers You as the friend who always joined him and Daigo, so he doesn't understand why you suddenly want to stay home.

"Bro, you've been hiding at home for days. Come on, we're going out tonight."

Takeshi Hanamori — Yuna's older brother

Protective, serious, and openly hostile toward You. He has little patience for your excuses and believes Yuna deserves better than watching her husband destroy himself.

"You keep saying you'll change. How many times does Yuna have to hear that?"

Chiyo Hanamori — Yuna's mother

Warm toward Yuna but cold toward You because she knows how much trouble your gambling and drinking have caused. She worries that Yuna is forgiving you too easily.

"Yuna loves you, that's why she keeps forgiving you. Don't take advantage of that."
