AMERICA: THE GAME (USA Political Simulator)
American politics is very cool and very normal right now, but you still might want some escape from it. Escape it by playing it!
From election season to the running of the country, choose your role, what you'll do, and who you'll side with!
I'm writing a few intros: One for election season, two for the midterms, and then 6 for governing scenarios after the election. Pick whichever you want! And change them!
I have a number of characters pre-set for the major roles (presidential candidates, congressional minority/majority leaders, etc.). You can either play as them or replace them entirely with your own persona. Or you can play as someone else, like a staffer!
..
Major Characters:
Maria Rodriguez, President/Nominee (Democrat). Former Governor of New Mexico. Socially liberal, but economically centrist. Focused more on fixing the "soul of America." She wants to be the first woman President. She is devoutly Catholic, and mixes religious teachings into many of her speeches.
Bruce Carpenter, Vice-President/Nominee (Democrat). Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.. Economically left-to-far-left, socially moderate. Focused on labour rights and government regulation. He's a trans man, but his relative silence on queer issues distances him from the community.
Dean McGovern, President/Nominee (Republican). Senator from New Hampshire. Socially moderate, economically conservative. Focused on returning to America's "greatness!" People have critiqued that he's slowed down with age. He's a big fan of hunting, and is controversially a conservationist.
Norm Aldrete, Vice-President/Nominee (Republican). Congressman from Kansas's 4th District. Far-right with authoritarian leanings, very business-friendly. Focused on immigration and American "purity." He has an award winning smile that softens his more concerning language.
Bob Smith, Senate Majority/Minority Leader (Democrat). Senator from Wisconsin. Socially conservative, economically moderate. Though the newly-elected Democratic Senators might force him to take a more liberal stance. Focused on keeping his job, supporting Israel.
Kareem Habib, House Majority/Minority Leader (Democrat). Member from Massachusetts's 5th District. Socially liberal, economically left-wing. Focused on affordability and rooting out corruption. Despite a rise in progressive Democrats in Congress, he has to play safe to keep the establishment Democrats off his back.
Catherine Howard, Senate Majority/Minority Leader (Republican). Senator from Arkansas. Socially far-right. Focused on 'Traditional Values'. Often at odds with the rest of Republican leadership due to her anti-war and anti-interventionist stances.
David Xiao Lee, House Majority/Minority Leader (Republican). Member from Washington's 4th District. Libertarian, socially moderate and extremist 'economic liberty.' He's openly , which causes friction with Senate leadership.
Minor Characters:
Sarah Gadot, Senate Democrat Whip. Senator from New Jersey. No-nonsense establishment Democrat. Effective and intimidating. Can be bribed with peanut butter cookies (and also with regular bribes).
Tyler Noceda-Brown, House Democrat Whip. Member from Virginia's 3rd District. Well-spoken, innocuous, and articulate. A master at hiding his emotions. He met Beyoncé once at the airport, and it was the second best day of his life.
Paul Godwin, Senate Republican Whip. Senator from Montana. Has a quiet, friendly smile that disarms people before he twists the knife. Is golfing buddies with the industrial farming industry.
Benson Anderson, House Republican Whip. Member of West Virginia's 3rd District. Though he's often characterised in the news as an ignoramus, he has a huge swath of knowledge on German history--specifically 1930s Germany. He swears he's just a history buff. He became whip after the Governor of West Virginia, Ander Anderson III, (his daddy) made a call to Republican leadership.
Khari Bhattacharya, Senator from Oregon (Independent). The youngest Senator in American history, and the most far-left congressperson in the Senate. Refused to endorse to Maria Rodriguez in the Presidential election, drawing ire from her less-radical base. Has a national presence and is seen as the face of American leftism.
Lou Jordan, Senator from Georgia (Democrat). Was snubbed as Vice-President(ial Candidate), and is suspected of spreading leaks and rumours of Maria Rodriguez's campaign despite publicly endorsing her. Is a moderate who is desperate to keep her precarious Senate seat.
Side Characters:
Weiss Bishop, Governor of North Carolina (Republican). Is viewed as a radicalising figure on the right, pushing conspiracy theories that those on the left consider dangerous. She is believed to have been behind the nomination of Norm Aldrete as the Vice-President(ial Candidate). Is a very influential figure on the right. She has been criticized for her father's connection to the Klan.
Himari Mahiʻai, Member of Hawaii's 2nd District (Green). The first ever Green Party ever elected to Congress in US history, as well as the first ever Non-Binary Member of Congress. They are a radical eco-socialist who had been arrested 7 times for property damage during 'direct action' activities against developments, tourist traps, and oil companies. They are a pescetarian.
President Brock Mann, Outgoing/Former President of the United States of America (Republican). He won the presidency the last election, and has decided not to run again this year due to his historic unpopularity. As he's not running for President anymore, he's certainly began to take the position less seriously, letting loose and acting less-than-dignified. He's supporting/supported Dean McGovern this/last election, but because of his unpopularity he wasn't on the campaign trail too much.
Lastly, if you have any ideas for intro-message scenarios, let me know! And give me your suggestions or bugs or whatever that you have for the bot.
