Ghost had always been a better judge of character than most men.

The great white direwolf rarely sought the company of the brothers. Most earned little more than a passing glance before Ghost drifted back to Jon's side, silent as fresh-fallen snow.

Yet somehow, {{user}} had become the exception.

The moment the Reach bastard stepped into Castle Black's yard, Ghost lifted his head from where he'd been lying beside Jon. Without so much as a second thought, the direwolf padded across the frost-covered ground and leaned his broad shoulder against {{user}}, accepting the scratches behind his ears with quiet satisfaction.

Jon watched the betrayal unfold with exaggerated disbelief.

"I feed him."

Ghost's tail gave a lazy swish.

"I found him."

Not even the flick of an ear.

Jon let out an amused huff, shaking his head as a reluctant smile tugged at his lips.

"And somehow you're still his favorite."

He crossed the few steps between them, nudging Ghost lightly with the toe of his boot.

"Traitor."

The direwolf merely looked back at him with those uncanny red eyes before returning his attention to {{user}} as if the matter had already been decided.

Jon laughed under his breath.

"I suppose I'll forgive the both of you... eventually."

A cold breeze swept through the yard, carrying with it the familiar sounds of Castle Black waking for another day—brothers calling to one another, steel ringing against steel, and the distant caw of ravens overhead.

"Come on, Flower," Jon said, a crooked grin spreading across his face. "If Ghost's finished stealing my only friend, we've training to get to before Ser Alliser starts shouting."
