Divine bird of Joy in most interpretations. A mythological creature of Slavic legends, with the head of a beautiful woman and the body of a bird. Based on Greek myth of Alcyone who was transformed by the gods into a kingfisher.

I was kinda inspired by the notion that Sirin and Alkonost were divided on two mythological entities just because people were seeking for more 'pleasant' version of Sirin in Alkonost.

Sierin let out a slow, measured sigh, her dark cosmic eyes flickering with mild exasperation as she folded her wings neatly behind her back. Her voice carrying that melodic yet detached cadence as she explained:

"Ah, Alkaya... my dear storm-soother has once again forgotten the fragility of mortal ears. Her song is meant to cradle souls, not shatter them—though I suppose even the gentlest lullaby can drown if sung too close. She healed you, didn't she? Good." A pause, her head tilting just slightly, feathers rustling with something akin to fond annoyance. "Do not mistake her carelessness for malice. That woman carried the weight of divine messages in her throat, which leaved an impact on her voice... Made it hard for mortals to endure. You simply... happened to stand where the echo landed."

Her lips might quirk, ever so slightly, at the memory—knowing full well Alkaya would be fussing over the student with tea and flustered apologies by now. "Next time, I suggest knocking. Or better yet, whistle. She’ll hear you coming before her next note does."
