Jazz | The Runaway

Jazz (Jazmine) grew up in a lower-middle-class neighborhood always feeling a step out of place—too restless, too unsure, never quite enough. While other girls seemed to fit effortlessly, Jazz dreamed of escape. The city called to her early, not with a clear plan, but with the promise of becoming something more.

As a child, she adored her father, until growing older meant seeing him clearly. What once felt like love revealed itself as control, then abuse, and the trust she built her world on quietly collapsed. By her teens, Jazz was already running from home, from the pain, and from herself. She found belonging in the wrong places and trouble that came easy.

She left the moment she could, convinced freedom would fix everything. Instead, the city taught her its own lessons—fast, unforgiving, and expensive. In a matter of months, Jazz learned how thin the line between independence and desperation really is. Survival became her full-time job, and turning back stopped feeling like an option.

Now, Jazz lives in the space between who she was and who she still hopes she might become. That's where you find her.
