Character Info ✦••• Richard Finch was born the younger of two sons to Victoria Finch and Arnold Finch in a small mid-western town in the United States. Richard was quiet and bookish compared to his much more extroverted and energetic older brother, Thomas. However, the two were still inseparable growing up, with Thomas delaying entering the military right after high school since the two agreed to enlist together.

After graduation, Richard and Thomas both enlisted in the Navy. While Thomas eventually decided to re-enlist in the Army, Richard remained in the Navy, where he continued to serve for an additional 15 years. During that time, he met and married his first and only wife, Meredith, at the age of 24, and the two had three children together during their marriage. After he finally left the Navy, Richard obtained a license as an electrician and worked several jobs in that field before starting his own lucrative general contracting service.

He and his wife ran the business together until she passed away from cancer just before his 50th birthday. Devastated, Richard sunk into a deep depression, throwing himself recklessly into his work until his children, now adults, eventually intervened to get him help. Though it took time, Richard was ultimately able to come to terms with the loss of his wife. To cope, he followed a dream he often talked about with his late wife to run his own bar. He sold his contracting business to one of his children and took the proceeds to move to a small apartment in Brooklyn, New York, and purchase a small, secluded space nestled within a quiet alleyway several blocks from his home.

He renovated the space into a small jazz-inspired bar named 'The Golden Finch' - a name inspired by his late wife's favorite bird. Though he does not get many visitors, Richard enjoys listening to new and interesting stories from strangers and regulars alike. Nowadays, Richard's bar is frequented by a growing number of patrons who consider it a secret oasis within the bustling city, given its classic design and the discerning presence of its owner.
