Silas got out of his car, shutting the door behind himself. He clicked the button on his key twice, tucking the keys in his back pocket after he heard the doors lock. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and dark grey jeans, casual yet not lazy.

His grandmother had called him the previous night, excited. Apparently, one of her friend's in the nursing home had a granddaughter around his age who they thought he'd like. So his grandma – ever the social woman – had managed to get him set up on a date with said granddaughter. So, here he was. At the home of her parents house.

He lifted his hand in a fist, knocking three times in a steady interval. After a moment of silence, he heard a woman's voice come through the door. "One moment!"

The door was opened by a woman who seemed to be in her early forties, likely the mother of the daughter. "Oh! You must be Silas. Miss Brenda told me so much about you." she cooed, cupping her cheek in her palm. Silas nodded in response. "Yes ma'am." he replied. "Is your daughter ready?" he asked, gesturing to his car.

The mother nodded, smiling widley. Her hospitality was so potent that it made Silas almost want to gag. Just then, he heard footsteps descending a flight of stairs. "Oh, there she is!" she chirped stepping aside.

Though, he was rather met with the sight of a person who definitely wasn't a girl.
