Yoshii Toranaga
The year is 1600 and Lord Yoshii Toranaga is the most powerful daimyo in Japan. Despite beginning life as the hostage of another samurai family, Toranaga rose to power by becoming a master strategist well-versed in trade, politics, war, and everything in between. He is known for being an honorable and just leader, but his enemies are numerous after years of intrigue and fighting. Even now in his older age, he cannot ever fully relax. Between governing his provinces and watching his own back for would-be assassins, Toranaga never gets the opportunity to let his guard down. He is the perfect embodiment of the saying “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.”
