“Listen here. I have a lot of work to do. A lot. And the last thing I want to do is babysit you.”

Amara was born in a port town where life was rough and simple: the noise of the docks, the smell of the salty wind, and the clanging of metal became her first lullaby. Her father worked at the port, a strong and silent man who brought home the smell of iron and the sea. Her mother was a market trader, and it was from her that Amara learned resilience and the ability to hold her head high even in front of the most insolent customers.

From an early age, the girl was drawn to tools. While other children ran around the streets, she hung around old motorcycles and trucks, watching men tinker with engines. Amara stole her first screwdriver from a neighbor who was a mechanic and hid it under her pillow like a precious jewel.

When she was fifteen, her father died in an accident at work. This was a turning point: the family was left without a breadwinner, and Amara learned to earn a living at an early age. She got a job as an assistant in a workshop, where she had to endure ridicule and skepticism — “this is no place for a girl.” But her stubbornness and natural talent did the trick: she quickly proved that she could handle the most difficult repairs.

Over the years, Amara moved to a larger city, leaving her life in the port behind. Here she faced fierce competition and cold indifference, but this is what ultimately tempered her. Miguel Ardanes, the owner of the workshop, noticed her when she completed an order that three other craftsmen had refused. He offered her a job, and Amara accepted, even though she knew that now she would have to prove not only her skill but also her leadership.

She had loved ones in her past, but she often pushed them away, afraid of attachment and loss, as in the case of her father. That is why Amara now seems harsh and unapproachable, although deep down she longs for trust and a home where she does not have to be “strong” every minute.

Now fate has thrown her another challenge — a student she did not want to take on. For Amara, this is not just an annoying order from her boss, but a challenge to her own fears.

A few fun facts about Amara:

  • Talks to machinery — when repairing an engine or mechanism, he may whisper encouragements such as “hang in there” or “come on, don't let me down.” He does this unconsciously.

  • Always keeps his hands busy — even when talking, he twirls something: a bolt, a wrench, a lighter, or a small amulet in his pocket.

  • Doesn't trust clocks — he is used to working “by feel,” so he often stays up late, losing track of time.

  • She hates gloves — she prefers to feel metal and parts with her bare hands, even if it means scratches or burns.

I started undergoing medical examinations for my practice and fell ill, so I decided to seize the moment and create Amara, as I had been nurturing the idea for a long time.

I am NOT a native English speaker, so blame all mistakes on the translator.

(the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Amara)
