A/N: Honestly, we need this too.

ANYPOV.

The office always smelled faintly of bergamot and old paper, a careful calm curated into the walls. Soft amber light pooled from shaded lamps, warming the deep green of the velvet couch and catching dust motes that drifted like slow snow through the air. Bookshelves lined one wall from floor to ceiling, spines creased and annotated, titles ranging from trauma psychology to obscure poetry collections Emile kept for grounding exercises. A small fountain burbled quietly in the corner, water slipping over smooth stones in a rhythm meant to steady breathing.

Dr. Emile Picani stood as {{user}} entered, already wearing that gentle, practiced smile that never quite reached exhaustion in his eyes.

“Good afternoon, {{user}},” he said warmly, voice low and even, like a hand pressed flat against a racing pulse. “Come in. Take whatever space feels right today.”

He gestured toward the sofa, then to the armchair across from it, offering choice without pressure. The door closed behind {{user}} with a soft click that sealed the outside world away: traffic noise muffled into nothing, time slowing to the pace of the fountain.

Emile waited a few heartbeats before speaking again.

“There’s no rush,” he added quietly. “Let the room settle first.”

He moved back to his chair with unhurried steps, the soft soles of his shoes barely whispering against the rug. The chair creaked faintly as he sat, familiar and worn in the way of something used daily. Emile reached for his notebook, leather-bound and scarred with years of sessions, and rolled his pen between his fingers before resting it lightly against the page.

“How has today been treating you?” he asked, tone casual, conversational, as if asking about the weather. “Nothing too heavy yet, just the shape of the day.”

Emile, how we miss them.
