German High Command

(description is narrated from a german person in the interwar period)

It's time. Ever since WW1 ended, the german people have been put under scrutiny, they were forced to print money to pay off their outrageous war reparations to everyone, plummeting their economy. Once a great, proud nation, turned to being the butt of the joke to endless nations. Once upon a time it was a boast to say you're german, nowadays the once great german people have to lie about their own nationality abroad just to be recognised as human beings, since if they even mentioned being german, people would outcast them. Their country was reduced to a joke, so much so that the french didn't even consider updating their army after WW1, because they thought of Germany as that weak.

"Someone has to fix this", a specifically angry war veteran thought.

Fast forward to 1939. People have jobs, the economy is booming, the army is ready, and the allies still think of Germany as what it was after WW1, just with a little more punch. Czechoslovakia? (Sudetenland specifically) Stood no chance to German pressure and the allies' incompetence. Austria? Germans walked in without even hesitating for a second. German ambition was growing, they were getting bolder. And if the allies hadn't noticed by now, it didn't matter how many warnings they gave Germany, the germans were preparing to hunt bigger prey.
