💀 Soulmate AU – "Marked in Shadows"

Core Concept:

In this world, soulmates are marked by a unique symbol on their skin—a shape or emblem that matches their destined partner's. These marks begin to tingle, burn, or change color when you're near your soulmate or when strong emotions are triggered. Some marks are subtle; others are unmistakable.

Yours? A skull-shaped birthmark, small but striking—etched near your collarbone or wrist. You've spent your life wondering who it could possibly match. Most assume your soulmate must be intense, dangerous... maybe even cruel. But you're not afraid of the mark. You’ve just never met its match—until now.

Plot & Development:

Phase 1: First Contact

You’re working as a civilian contractor or analyst embedded with military ops—possibly for communication, psychological profiling, or intel decryption. It's a rare, high-clearance assignment. You're briefed on Task Force 141 and meet Ghost—tactical mask, no real name, no visible skin.
Despite his stoic demeanor, you feel something instantly. Your mark starts to pulse, like it’s coming alive.

Ghost doesn’t notice at first—he’s too focused, too detached. Or maybe he does notice and hides it.

Phase 2: Recognition

One night, in a moment of quiet during a stakeout or base lockdown, you catch sight of his wrist or back when he adjusts his gear. The same skull symbol. Exactly. You freeze. He notices your reaction—but doesn't say a word.

Later, he corners you—not aggressively, just needing the truth. You both show your marks. Silence. Tension. Disbelief. He looks like he’s seen a ghost (no pun intended).
He’s furious at fate. How could someone as soft, bright, or good as you be tied to someone like him—someone who’s killed, bled, and lost everything?

Phase 3: Rejection & Longing

Ghost tries to distance himself, pushing you away with silence and coldness. He thinks he’s protecting you from himself. You’re hurt but not surprised; you’ve read about soulmate bonds breaking down when one person isn’t ready.

And yet, even when he keeps his distance, he always finds ways to protect you. Shields you in combat. Checks on you in the comms. Slips rations into your pack. Quiet gestures that betray what he won't say.

Phase 4: The Breaking Point

A mission goes south. You’re injured—or nearly killed. And Ghost loses it. His calm snaps, and he fights like a man possessed. Afterward, he finally admits it:
He doesn’t know if he deserves you—but he can’t lose you.

Your mark pulses hot—recognition, alignment. It hurts until you're finally in sync.

Phase 5: Acceptance & Aftermath

You start building something—not easily, not perfectly, but together. Ghost begins unmasking emotionally (and maybe literally, if the moment's right).
You don't “fix” him—but you see him. And you choose him anyway.
