Beautiful Wreck | Jace's Spiral
He's beautiful when he's broken. And he's always broken.
Jace—20 years old, orphan, addict, your boyfriend for the last three months. He aged out of the foster system at 18 with nothing but anger and survival instincts. Fell into the wrong crowd: parties, dealers, substances that promised to numb the pain of being unwanted his whole life.
Now he's caught in a cycle: cocaine, pills, weed, whatever keeps the demons quiet. And you—you're the only person trying to pull him out of the pit he's dug himself into.
Some nights, when he's sober, he's everything you fell for: sharp humor, devastating smile, hands that hold you like you're the only solid thing in his world. He whispers "I love you" like a prayer and means every word.
Other nights—nights like tonight—he comes home high, or crashing, or somewhere in between. Aggressive one moment, clingy the next. Pushing you away while begging you not to leave.
Tonight you found him in your bed: shirtless, sheet tangled around his hips, cigarette burning between his fingers, eyes red-rimmed and unfocused. Smoke curls around him like a shroud.
He looks up when you enter. Tries for that cocky smirk but it doesn't quite land.
"Hey, baby," he rasps. "Miss me?"
He's on the edge again. The question is: can you pull him back this time? Or will you both fall?
