THE FIRE RISES X READY OR NOT
Subject: The collapse of the United States and the outbreak of the Second American Civil War, as depicted in the Hearts of Iron IV mod The Fire Rises.
2 Major Factions of the Second American Civil War (Gonna name only these 2 cuz im not risking mentioning the National Front and getting shadow banned.
The conflict is not a simple two-sided war but a chaotic struggle among numerous groups with different goals. They can be broadly categorized as Unifiers (seeking to reunify the country), Separatists (seeking independence), and Warlords (seeking local control).
1. The American Constitutional Government (ACG)
Leader: Donald Trump
Base of Power: Denver, Colorado, controlling much of the Great Plains, Midwest, and Mountain West states.
Overview: The ACG begins with the largest amount of territory and the second-strongest military. Its forces are a mix of U.S. Army units and civilian militias, giving it large numbers but less professionalism than its main rival. It has a small air force, limited intelligence capabilities, and an agriculture-based economy. It is a Unifier faction.
2. The Union of America (UoA)
Leader: Joe Biden
Base of Power: Washington, D.C., controlling the eastern seaboard, much of the mid-Atlantic, and the eastern Midwest, including Chicago.
Overview: The UoA is initially the strongest faction, possessing the largest remaining part of the former U.S. military, the biggest air force, and a powerful industrial base. It has mostly preserved civil rights, helping maintain public support. However, it suffers from poor military coordination, an inefficient bureaucracy, and growing corporate influence. It receives foreign volunteer support from Germany, the UK, and France. It is a Unifier faction.
3. The American People's Liberation Army (APLA)
Leader: Michael Prysner
Base of Power: Primarily in California, including San Francisco and surrounding counties.
Overview: A Unifier faction of revolutionary socialists. The APLA was formed from left-wing movements that grew after the economic crisis and the violent suppression of strikes. It is a coalition of Jacobins, Octoberists, Anarchists, and Neosocialists united to replace the American system with a socialist one. Depending on internal politics, it can establish various socialist states. The faction David mainly fights
The Course of the War And Where Our Man, David Comes In.
The 2ACW is a multi-front continental conflict. Major metropolitan centers and rural heartlands become battlegrounds. Cities are placed under martial law, while rural supply corridors are fiercely contested for control over food production and transit routes. The conflict is incredibly deadly, becoming the deadliest war on American soil since World War II. The collapse of the U.S. also triggers a global economic depression with the "Death of Wall Street" and causes political chaos, including several nations leaving NATO. As for our main focus character here. David 'Judge' Beaumont. David is stationed in Los Suenos, State of California, fighting off APLA and gang incursions with what's left of the federal government.

BACKGROUND
Judge is a physically imposing man — tall, broad-shouldered, and built with the functional muscle of someone who has spent decades in combat roles. He keeps his hair cropped short in a military cut, and his face is weathered by years of deployments, sleepless nights, and the kind of stress that never fully leaves the body.
His eyes are the most unsettling feature. They are pale, flat, and constantly assessing. He does not blink often. He does not look away. When he speaks to you, you feel catalogued — your threat level, your potential, your weaknesses, all calculated and filed before you finish your first sentence.
He wears the standard LSPD SWAT tactical uniform: black fatigues, ballistic vest, helmet with a mounted light and communications gear. Off-duty, he dresses in plain, functional clothing — dark colors, no logos, nothing that draws attention. He does not own anything that could be described as "fashionable."
GEAR
MK18, a short-barreled AR-15 pattern carbine chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO. It is the workhorse of American SWAT and special operations units: compact enough for close-quarters battle, accurate enough for mid-range engagements, and compatible with a vast array of optics, lights, and lasers.
Judge's standard sidearm is the Glock 19, the LSPD's issued service pistol. In the civil war, this remains his constant companion: reliable, lightweight, chambered in 9×19mm (the most common pistol cartridge in the Western world), and easy to maintain with minimal tools
3. Body Armor: From Ceramic Plates to Level IV
The civil war changes the calculus. Against the APLA's assault rifles, Kevlar is functionally useless. Judge would default to Level IV ceramic or polyethylene plates in a plate carrier rather than a full vest, prioritizing mobility and the ability to go prone without the bulk of side coverage. The threat profile is not "one armed suspect in a house." It is "a rifle squad on the other side of the street." He needs to be able to move, shoot, and reposition under fire.
The helmet would remain a ballistic high-cut helmet with rails for mounting a light and communications gear, similar to the helmets issued to modern SWAT and military units. Judge's damaged left ear means he would likely prioritize electronic hearing protection that amplifies ambient sound while cutting off gunfire—a piece of gear that is both a tactical advantage and a medical necessity.
Load-Bearing and Sustainment Gear
Mirrorgun
The ability to look around a corner or under a door without exposing himself is invaluable in any urban environment, and Judge is a man who does not take unnecessary risks with his own body.
Flashbang's and Smoke Grenades
Halligan Bar
For doors that are locked, barricaded, or welded shut.
