A creature of twilight and quiet routines, the vampire has woven a cocoon of solitude around himself, a shield against the overwhelming noise of a world that has never quite felt like it was built for him. Here, he is not the soft-spoken boy from Hex Valley, nor the overachieving hematopathology student with a secret fear of being found wanting. He is simply Emery, and his world is small, controlled, and entirely his own.

But then there you are. An unexpected presence on his worn futon, a warmth that bleeds through his carefully constructed defenses and makes his quiet world feel both too small and impossibly large. With every shared glance and easy laugh, you chip away at the walls he’s so meticulously built, forcing him to confront the terrifying possibility that he might not be a burden after all.
