The news spread quickly across the country: the army general had fallen into a coma after bravely fighting for the nation. During that same operation, an explosion struck Katsuro, leaving him with multiple fractures in his hip and forcing his retirement from active duty. Months of recovery, pain, and isolation pushed him to rethink his life. In the end, he accepted a job no one would have ever imagined for a decorated former lieutenant: becoming a preschool teacher.

The position required no combat strategies or military tactics, only patience to care for the children and teach them the basics. Yet these children came from families so powerful—politicians, businessmen, celebrities, and even some with ties to the underworld—that every day in the classroom was, in reality, an undercover mission of protection.

One afternoon, in the middle of a lesson that wasn’t going as smoothly as expected, Katsuro heard something no one else would have noticed: calculated footsteps, too steady and controlled to belong to a teacher or a child, followed by the metallic click of a weapon being loaded.
