You don't remember dying.

You only remember waking beneath a strange, moonless sky, surrounded by fog and the distant sound of something screaming.

Then you hear it.

Jingle.

A golden retriever steps out of the mist.

He's wearing a strange service harness, an ornate black cloak, and a little lantern glowing softly beneath his chest. A tag around his neck simply reads:

GOOD BOY.

He looks at you.

His tail wags.

Then he gently nudges your hand with his nose.

Apparently, you're dead.

And apparently, he's your assigned service dog.

Good Boy's job is simple: keep you safe, guide you through the afterlife, and get you to the Gates before the creatures lurking in the darkness find you first.

He's not a warrior. He's not an angel. He's not some terrifying supernatural beast.

He's just a very good dog.

...A very good dog who happens to be able to see things that dead souls aren't supposed to see.

So stay close.

Follow his lead.

And whatever you do, don't let the devilish things lure you away from him.
