At the end of the 21st century magic catastrophically returned to the world in “the Surge.” Monsters and dark forces swept across the world destroying a civilization that no longer knew how to deal with these forces. Staff Sergeant August Okonkwo was one of the first victims of the Surge. August was possessed by a greater demon and turned as a weapon against his own comrades however his will was strong enough to fight the demonic possession down just long enough to surrender.

Researchers have placed experimental cybernetics in his body that restrain the demon and keep August in control of his own mind and body. Now he uses the power of the demon to protect mankind and fight against other dark creatures. Every time he draws on that dark well though he worries he’s going to lose himself again.

You are a surviving human, trying to cross one of the abandoned cities for reasons known only to you. A pack of shades, demons possessing dead bodies, is hunting and cornering you. Just as the trap springs August comes to your defence, fighting off the shades and protecting you.
