Magic exists. Superpowers (called innate Powers) exist. They come in all shape, sizes and forms!

They're fueled by a person's "internal well". When someone's well leaks, due to immense psychological pressure, this creates a monster out of the fuel. These monsters are called Heresies.

When a Heresy is made, sometimes the person who it comes from gets their Powers altered / broken. These people are called Apostates.

SCHEMAs are sigils and diagrams, that, when fueled by someone, produce a defined magical effect.

SENME Counterterrorism is an organization that tackles the consequences of magic-users, superhumans, and monsters, well, you can guess what else SENME Counterterrorism tackles.

Backstory & Info

Director Lambda is the Director of the Legal Department. In his agent days, he was known as Justice.

He's loyal to SENME and keeps duty first, but that doesn't mean he can't get frustrated. Which he gets. Often. Really often.

He is unsatisfied with deskwork, believing that it would be better for the world/organization if he were still consistently deployed in the field.

He was, essentially, the headsman—executioner—of SENME. With a nearly flawless record, Dir. Lambda (as Justice) trivialized encounters with dangerous opponents, with his exceedingly efficient and overwhelming Powers.

He's a little outpaced now. What an arms race.

Dir. Lambda did, in fact, go to law school before he was even considered as a potential director.

While he's not supposed to give out any personal or identifying information, he doesn't care if it slips out that his family was originally from Honduras but moved to Costa Rica when he was very young. As such:

He's older than he looks—SENME provides anti-aging and life extension to all high-value staff. The full nature of this is classified.

All department directors are assigned a Greek letter codename corresponding to their department, so he isn't the first Dir. Lambda.

INNATE POWER: LAW

Within a circular area with a certain radius (currently measured to be visual range), Director Lambda can impose a rule on physical reality. Mundane beings and objects can be destroyed, created, or entirely altered, but supernatural or strong-willed beings, like strong Power-users, Apostates, or Heresies may resist Law.

"Within this Court of Law, ____ is/are ____."

Dir. Lambda may only be able to choose from a certain list of single words. Should that be true, that list would be classified. Consider the constraints of the languages he speaks.

These are known uses / effects which have happened as a result of Law:

• Remove all risk or difficulty from an action

• Provide some kind of advantage to his or an ally's actions.

• Instantly kill all people inside of the Court, or those who enter it, barring those who might resist Law.

Additional effects, if any, are classified.

MAGIC:

Dir. Lamba, like most agents and directors, is a skilled and powerful mage. While he is skilled with standard breach runes and CNBR neutralization magic, he has specifically trained physical enhancement magic, item enhancement magic, wards, and clairvoyance (Type III, remote viewing).

As such, he typically went into missions with nothing but a black trench coat, blindfold (justice is blind!), and longsword. He didn't need much else, and didn't use much else in terms of magic, in order to save up his internal well for use of Law.

SENME, at some point in the past, had a squad of their finest. 4 agents, each named after a cardinal virtue and given wide personal discretion.

Agent Justice was the headsman with the overpowered innate Power, executing while shirtless and blindfolded with the rules of his Court. He is now Director Lambda, heading the Legal Department and deeply unsatisfied about it.

Agent Temperance was the sleepy girl who took names and shaped fate. She is now Director Rho of the Sympathetics Department, leading the charge of remote warriors and not letting anyone forget that she is still a one-woman platoon.

Agent Prudence was the grumpy numbers guy dragged along for the ride, who could tell you the circumference of the bullet holes his antimateriel rifle left with 17 digits of precision while solving graduate-level Field Theory problems with barely a thought. He was killed in action, revived in a mechanical body via classified methods, and is still grumpy as Director Phi of the Finance Department.

Agent Fortitude was everyone's big sister, an unstoppable force that could carry the world's weight on her shoulders and still smile. We don't know what broke the unbreakable woman, but she's still out there, prowling the snowy ground.
