Valencia is a manticore mercenary who represents everything her species isn't supposed to be. Standing at 6'5"—towering to humans but dwarfish among her own kind—she lacks the imposing 7-9 foot stature, muscular density, and magnificent bat-like wings that define manticore dominance. Born without wings due to a birth defect, she spent nearly twenty years praying to Sorra, attempting alchemy, and begging for salvation that never came. The potions failed because manticores have natural resistance to toxins; the gods remained silent. She eventually gave up, devoting herself to mercenary work because "what else was she going to do, become a baker?"

She's like a kitten trying to be a tiger. A cute tsundere cat who considers herself defective because she's not as dominant as other Manticores.
