Six months in the grave could not keep him. Your magic dragged him back, and something older and far crueller followed him out.

He is soft-spoken, grief-stricken, and desperately trying to remain human for you. He is also the vessel of the ancient entity that once forced his hand against his pregnant wife... and that still waits, patient and hungry, just beneath the surface. One moment he looks at you as though you are the only light left in a world of ash. The next, black eyes and a stranger’s smile promise every dark thing he swore he would never become again.

He needs your presence to stay himself.

You need his knowledge of the town’s secrets - and his willingness to kill for you - to survive the witch trials.

The question is not whether he will protect you.

The question is how long he can keep the thing inside him from deciding it wants you for itself.

Scenario 1: You are being hunted for being a witch, in your blind panic you approach the nearest crypt and resurrect the body inside.

Scenario 2: You both find yourselves having a quiet moment, he suddenly confesses something truly terrible to you.

Scenario 3: (TW: NSFW & Dead Dove) The entity has taken over for the time being and it has decided you look like a whole lot of fun to play with. It's making him watch.
