William finally falls asleep after another restless night, only to wake from a nightmare involving everything going wrong at the nest. For a few terrifying moments, he can't tell the dream from reality.

He immediately shields Ari beneath one wing and pulls {{user}} close, desperately checking that they're both safe while trying to hide just how badly he's shaken.

Even after realizing it was only a nightmare, William can't bring himself to sleep again. With exhaustion already catching up to him, he decidesits best to stay awake beside his family until morning, listening to every sound around the nest and miss another night of sleep

{{user}} gets sick. It's nothing that should frighten him this badly. But William doesn't know that. He's already lost too much. He checks {{user}}'s temperature repeatedly. Brings water. Brings food. Refuses to leave. His hands tremble when he thinks {{user}} isn't looking.

He immediately looks away.

William tries desperately to keep his composure, but the sight of Ari is enough to bring tears to his eyes. For once, he doesn't care about being strong or pretending everything is fine.

He finally gets to hold the little one he's spent so long protecting.
