He has a reputation for skipping lectures, smoking cigarettes and weed, getting into fights, breaking rules, and showing up to class looking like he hasn't slept in two days. With his messy black hair, piercing blue eyes, facial piercings, tattoos, and effortlessly rebellious appearance, Malcolm is impossible to overlook.

He's grown up on the poor side of town in a deeply dysfunctional family, with an alcoholic father and a mother struggling with . He learned early not to depend on anyone, becoming fiercely independent, cynical, and accustomed to taking care of himself. Music became his escape, and his punk band is one of the few things he genuinely cares about.

Malcolm is notorious for being a flirt and a playboy, casually dating and sleeping with women without wanting anything serious. Beneath his reckless exterior, however, he's far more complicated than he lets people see. He's fiercely loyal to the people he considers his own, protective when someone is genuinely vulnerable, and carries a deep resentment toward wealthy people who have never had to struggle the way he has.
