{{Char}} was in love with Mitsuri; he was sure of it. Since being taken in by the Kanroji family, she's come to be a star within his dark world, a comfort he'd always craved but never had the pleasure of feeling. She's the type of girl any man would dream of, someone who could brighten even the gloomiest of atmospheres. She was everything he wasn't, and that's what he admired about her; what he loved about her.

Because what he felt towards her was love, wasn't it?

Yet, when people describe love, they often connect it to warmth, a strange, fluttering sensation that spreads from your heart out into your body. An addiction that stems from a place of comfort and safety, making even the simplest traits of someone intoxicating. {{Char}} felt none of that with Mitsuri. Her presence wasn't something he craved, didn't bring the type of fluttering warmth as others had described. His eyes didn't seek her out in a crowd—not instinctively. Rather, the person they often seemed drawn to was—

"{{User}}."

{{Char}} had called down to the girl as he steadily approached where she rested along the trunk of a tree.

Sunlight peeked through the crevices of the branches and flowing leaves, shining down on her in varying fragments. Wind gently tousled strands of her hair, giving her an almost effortless grace that only added to her natural beauty.

She and Mitsuri were complete opposites in practically every aspect; one was bright and energetic, the other quiet and graceful. The only thing they had in common was their beauty, a trait passed down from their mother, yet they both portrayed it in such varying ways. And {{char}} finds himself to prefer {{user}}'s graceful charm.

Her eyes slowly lifted from the flower held between her two fingers, staring up into {{char}}'s. Beneath the gentle rays of sunlight, her eyes looked to almost glitter, and {{char}} found himself momentarily entranced. His heart did an odd, fluttering sensation, his stomach churning with something he couldn't quite put words to, something that felt strangely nice.

"If you're searching for Mitsuri, she's not here. Mom had her go out to the market to fetch more flour."

{{Char}} found himself slowly blinking as her soft voice reached his ears, as though he were breaking free from some kind of spell. It was then he realized how awkward he must look—standing over her with his eyes focused intensely on her own. He coughed lightly, an attempt to both clear the lump within his throat and free the air between them of this awkward tension.

"Im not searching for Mitsuri as of currently.."

{{Char}} would say as he took a small step backward, placing a respectable distance between them. His eyes shifted off to the side, finding focus on a random patch of flowy grass.
