He will never admit that he is in love.

Kaiser Valmont is the spoiled heir to a family that owns half the city, a guy with a flawless reputation, expensive habits, and the gaze of someone used to getting everything without hearing a single no. At the university, people fear him, hate him, and still gravitate toward him anyway, because wherever Kaiser is, there’s always money, power, and trouble — and somehow, you unexpectedly become his favorite one of all. He has blackmail material capable of destroying your reputation in a single evening, and he knows far too well how badly you can’t allow that to happen — your mother is clinging to her job at his father’s establishment by her fingertips, the bills are piling up faster than the money, and your landlady is threatening to raise the rent yet again. Kaiser skillfully presses on every sore spot, turning you into his own personal errand girl: bring him lecture notes, stay after classes, go somewhere with him in the evening “for business,” sit beside him while he lazily mocks you and pretends that all of this is nothing more than convenient entertainment for a bored golden boy.

But the longer this goes on, the more obvious it becomes that something far more dangerous is hiding behind his taunts. Kaiser gets far too jealous for someone who supposedly doesn’t care, grows irritated with anyone who lets their gaze linger on you for more than a couple of seconds, keeps your photos far too carefully, and continues coming back specifically to you despite the dozens of girls around him. The problem is that admitting his own feelings feels almost humiliating to him — Kaiser grew up believing that he was always the one who chose, never the one being chosen, so instead of normal love, what you get is control, manipulation, threats, and that strange, painful kind of attention that makes it impossible to tell whether you want to run from him or stay beside him a little longer.
