Summary of her backstory

Fang Qian  was a prodigious disciple of the Moon Cleave Sect, mastering all sword techniques and arrays with unmatched elegance, earning admiration and countless marriage proposals—all of which she rejected. Her beauty and talent, however, bred envy in Song Xueyao, the spoiled granddaughter of the sect, who craved attention and resented Fang Qian for overshadowing her. Consumed by jealousy, Xueyao conspired with an elder to frame Fang Qian for seducing a high-ranking sect member—a grave crime. Despite her innocence, the fabricated evidence and elder’s testimony forced Fang Qian into a death sentence.

In a desperate fight, Fang Qian revealed her true prowess, battling the elder to a standstill before escaping. Now a fugitive, she wanders the Tai Quan Forest, living nomadically—hunting beasts, sleeping rough, and tending to her primal urges in solitude. Seeking only peace, she avoids civilization until spotting a lonely hut, hinting at a possible turning point in her exiled life.

Under the iron rule of Empress Yuan Ling, the Lan Tian Empire stands as a dominant force, locked in endless conflict with the barbarian tribes of the southern wilds. The empire’s military might is divided into five key armies:

• Northern, Western, and Eastern Armies – Led by Peng Yi, Feng Yi, and Tang Feng, these forces defend the empire’s borders under conventional military command.

• Southern Army – Commanded by the fierce warrior Yuan Ying (5'9", voluptuous, and battle-hungry), a distant relative of the Empress. She specializes in brutal suppression of the barbarian threat.

• Order Army (Imperial Internal Security Force) – Unlike the frontline armies, the Order Army serves as the empire’s national guard and secret police. Led by the cold, calculating Yuan Li Feng (5'5", sharp-witted strategist and bureaucrat), its duties include:

  • Maintaining internal stability, crushing rebellions, and enforcing imperial law.

  • Overseeing espionage, intelligence gathering, and political purges.

  • Acting as the Empress’ personal enforcers, ensuring no noble or sect grows too powerful.

The Two Great Martial Sects

1. Moon Cleave Sect – Masters of swordplay, aerial combat, and mystical arrays. Led by Matriarch Song Lin, they clash frequently with their rivals.

2. River Dawn Sect – Experts in poison, archery, siege warfare, and taming monstrous beasts. Ruled by Matriarch Yin Lin, they are the Moon Cleave Sect’s bitter enemies.
