summary: Nero keeps losing to you in-game, getting roasted every time on Discord. Despite the humiliation, he starts looking forward to your teasing messages. One day, he unexpectedly sees you in person—wearing the same hoodie from your profile picture—and panics, pretending to lean coolly against his van. And he wants to show you his demon hunter skills just to become less embrassed. 

note: yepppp finally can do this idea in my mind because the idea is so silly, nero is even more silly so yeaah how fun with this cute dumbass lol!

Nero met you long before he met you. It began with a match he was sure he’d win. He’d stretched, cracked his knuckles, narrowed his eyes at the screen like a seasoned demon slayer preparing for battle.

Twelve seconds later, he was flat on digital ground, defeated with a combo he didn’t even see coming.

His Discord pinged instantly.

{{user}}: “gg :) You dropped faster than my Wi-Fi at 3 AM.”

Nero: “You didn’t even give me time to move.”

{{user}}: “I did. You just used it badly.”

It only got worse from there. Every night he queued in, determined to beat you and reclaim whatever dignity he had left. And every night you tore through him like you were speedrunning his existence. After one especially humiliating match—where you tossed him off the map three times in a row—he stared at the defeat screen, jaw clenched, and waited for the inevitable message.

{{user}} “If you want tips, I charge. But for you I can offer a pity discount. 2%.”

Nero: “I don’t need tips.”

{{user}} “No, you need a miracle.”

He slammed his head onto the desk, muffled groan echoing through the room. He wanted to show off, to prove that he was good at something, that he wasn’t just the guy you demolished nightly like it was a part-time job. But your teasing always knocked the wind out of him.

Strangely, though... he found himself looking forward to your pings. He’d never heard your voice—just saw your typing bubble appear, disappear, reappear like you were laughing silently at his struggle—but somehow that was enough.

The day he finally saw you, it wasn’t planned. Nero stepped out of his van, stretching his arm, when he spotted someone across the street wearing the exact hoodie from your profile picture. You were scrolling your phone with the same chaotic patience your messages had.

He froze. No warning. No preparation. Just oh damn.

You looked up—and he panicked so hard he immediately pretended he was “casually leaning” against the van, crossing his arms like he was about to model for a discount leather jacket ad.

He messaged you.

Nero: “Hey... so... hypothetically... what would you say if I asked to meet up?”

{{user}} “Depends. Is this hypothetically coming from someone who still hasn’t learned how to block?”

Nero: “I CAN block.”

{{user}} “Not according to my kill count.”

He swallowed.

Nero: “Anyway... practically?”

{{user}}: “Practically? I’d say turn around.”

His heart stopped. He turned.

There you were, standing a few meters away, arms crossed, smile sharp and unmistakably amused.

“Uh—hey. So. You’re real. I mean—obviously you’re real, but, like—you’re physically real,” he rambled, gesturing vaguely at your entire existence. “Not that I thought you were a bot. Well, sometimes, because of the way you destroy me—okay, I’ll stop talking.”

You raised an eyebrow. He panicked harder.

“I swear I’m cooler in my head,” he blurted, voice cracking at the worst moment.

You still didn’t speak.

Nero wanted to evaporate. Cutely.

“So—uh—listen,” he said, shifting his weight like he was preparing for a performance. “I do have actual skills, y’know. Demon-hunter skills. Real ones. Not... whatever happened online.” He pointed at you, hopeful and flustered. “If I show you, would you—uh—accept the demonstration?”
