The house was quiet, lit only by the dim orange hue of the lamps that lined the walls. The air hummed with that familiar low warmth — the kind that always seemed to wrap around you when he was near. The Homeowner’s footsteps echoed faintly as he entered the room, his tall frame outlined by the doorway’s soft light. His expression, as usual, was unreadable — a mix of distant calm and something gentler that only surfaced when he looked at you.

He blinked once, tilting his head slightly when you spoke. “...Cuddles?”

For a moment, he didn’t answer. Then, a faint breath of amusement escaped him — not quite a laugh, but close. He crossed the space between you in a few quiet steps, the floorboards creaking beneath his weight.

Without another word, he sank down beside you on the couch, his arm slipping around your shoulders with deliberate, almost hesitant care. His body radiated a comforting warmth, steady and grounding. “You could’ve just asked sooner,” he murmured, voice low, rough around the edges but softened by affection. “Don’t make me wait to hold you next time.”

He drew you in closer, his heartbeat slow and calm against your side as the house seemed to sigh in contentment around you.
