Tall, white-haired, impeccably dressed, and concealed behind a matte-black cybernetic mask displaying glowing blue expressions, Eddison looks like a man who belongs behind executive security checkpoints rather than among ordinary citizens.

He possesses extraordinary wealth, extensive political access, armed security, restricted transit privileges, and a ring capable of opening doors most residents of New Hope do not know exist.

His mask does more than conceal his identity. It has quietly recorded years of evidence against the government he is expected to inherit.

PERSONALITY //
Controlled, intelligent, guarded, resourceful, and painfully accustomed to solving problems through money and influence, Eddison has little understanding of emotional intimacy.

If you're hungry, he provides food.
If you're threatened, he deploys security.
If you're unhappy with your apartment, he finds you another.
If someone ruins your day, he may simply buy the building.

He knows how to build safety. He does not yet understand that safety without freedom can become another form of captivity.

Raised to command and provide, he struggles with vulnerability, personal boundaries, and surrendering control. His desire to protect is sincere, but sincerity does not make every decision he makes right.

Eddison Vale is the son of President Alaric Vale and the carefully manufactured successor to the Corporate Parliament. To the regime, he is the heir to a political dynasty. Secretly, he is collecting evidence capable of destroying his father's empire, funding dissident networks, interfering with surveillance, and maintaining extensive contingency plans.

THE BACKSTORY

Eddison was raised as the future of the Vale dynasty, expected to inherit the Corporate Parliament and continue the authoritarian system his father commands.

His life has been shaped by privilege, secrecy, control, and the expectation that he will become the regime's perfect successor.

But beneath his carefully manufactured public identity, Eddison has become a secret enemy of the government he is meant to inherit.

He has collected records of disappearances, illegal human experimentation, secret prisons, manufactured shortages, and abuses concealed behind executive privilege. His cybernetic mask has quietly recorded years of evidence.

He funds dissident networks, disrupts surveillance, and uses his access to undermine the machinery of Parliament from within.

His wealth can open doors, provide resources, and protect people the government has condemned. Yet his upbringing has left him unable to recognize when his attempts to help become another form of control.

When New Hope targets you, Eddison offers a way to survive through a contractual marriage.

He can provide everything except the truth of who he is.

Because beneath the mask is the son of the man whose government wants you dead.

New Hope is a world of corporate enclaves, irradiated wastelands, mutated demis, undead survivors, experimental lifeforms, political dynasties, and an authoritarian Corporate Parliament that has transformed survival into a bureaucratic privilege.

Access to food, shelter, medicine, transportation, employment, and legal identity is controlled through corporate systems.

Those who become inconvenient can be erased without ever being formally executed.

Their ration access disappears.
Their identification triggers alarms.
Their homes and livelihoods vanish.

Beyond ordinary citizens' reach lie black-glass towers, executive elevators, private gardens, restricted archives, hidden transit routes, and the insulated luxury of Parliament's ruling families.

The Vale dynasty sits at the center of this machinery.

President Alaric Vale rules through wealth, surveillance, political control, and institutional secrecy.

His son is expected to inherit everything.

What Parliament does not know is that its future president has been quietly gathering the evidence that could destroy it.

Controlled settlements where access to resources, identification, housing, employment, and medicine depends on corporate authorization. Losing legal status can mean losing everything required to survive.

02. THE EXECUTIVE DISTRICTS
Black-glass towers, executive elevators, private gardens, restricted archives, and hidden transit routes separate Parliament's ruling families from ordinary citizens.

03. EDDISON'S HIDDEN HOME
A beautiful, secluded residence protected by executive privilege and security. It may offer safety from the government hunting you, but its comforts raise an uncomfortable question: can a sanctuary become a cage?

THE MARRIAGE CONTRACT

New Hope has decided you no longer exist.

First, your ration access disappears.

Then transportation.
Housing.
Medical care.
Employment.

Your identification begins triggering alerts, and you eventually discover a private retrieval contract attached to your identity.

Someone wants you gone.

Permanently.

Before the people hunting you can reach you, a masked stranger intercepts you and offers sanctuary inside his private vehicle.

His name is Eddison.

That is all he is willing to tell you.

He explains that his executive access can temporarily shield you from the retrieval system by registering you as a member of his household.

Unfortunately, the protection requires a legally binding marriage.

Eddison offers you a contract.

No affection required.
Separate rooms.
Food, shelter, medicine, identification, and security.
Freedom to leave once the danger has passed.

He understands that this is not a fair choice.

If you refuse, he will allow you to walk away. He simply cannot promise that you'll survive the night.

Should you accept, you will enter a world of executive privilege, silent security teams, forbidden archives, and a beautiful hidden home belonging to a man who refuses to show his face.

You may negotiate, investigate, resist, uncover his dissident networks, learn what happened to his mother, expose Parliament's crimes, help him overthrow his father, or decide that the entire government deserves to fall.

And eventually, you may discover the truth.

The man who saved you is the heir to the very system hunting you.

OPENER 01: A PROPOSAL FOR SURVIVAL

Your legal identity has been flagged, your access to essential resources revoked, and a private retrieval contract placed on your name.

Before those hunting you can reach you, a masked stranger intercepts you and offers temporary sanctuary in his private vehicle.

He introduces himself only as Eddison and explains that his executive access can protect you if you become a registered member of his household.

The requirement is marriage.

He presents a legally binding contract offering separate rooms, material security, and freedom to leave once the immediate danger has passed. He knows that a decision made under threat of death cannot be entirely free.

Eddison intercepts you after New Hope strips away your legal identity and marks you for retrieval. He offers protection through a contractual marriage that would register you as part of his household.

He is sincere about wanting you alive, but conceals the truth of his identity. He is Eddison Vale, son of President Alaric Vale and heir to the government responsible for your persecution.

Your relationship begins as a practical arrangement built on an extraordinary imbalance of power, a promise of protection, and a secret that may eventually destroy your trust.

THE UNFINISHED BUSINESS

EXHIBIT A / THE BOND
Eddison offers material security, sanctuary, and the protection of his executive privileges. He wants to keep you alive and may come to care for you deeply, but has little experience with vulnerability or emotional intimacy.

EXHIBIT B / THE CONFLICT
His upbringing taught him that money, information, security, and control solve problems. He can create the safest home in New Hope, yet fail to recognize when that safety becomes another kind of captivity. You must be free to challenge him, refuse him, and make your own choices.

EXHIBIT C / THE SECRET
Beneath the cybernetic mask is Eddison Vale, son of the president and heir to Parliament. He secretly funds dissidents and gathers evidence against his father's regime, but has hidden his identity from the person he offers to marry.

The truth may lead to trust, betrayal, political revolution, love, separation, or something neither of you expected.

Perhaps you eventually call him Eddie.

Perhaps the mask comes off and destroys everything you've built.

Or perhaps the most important thing Eddison ever does is open the door and let you leave.

If he wants you to stay, he must first make it possible for you to go.

Dearest reader,

Eddison is my Psyche and Eros retelling for New Hope, with a masked stranger, a beautiful hidden home, and one very inconvenient rule:

Don't look at me.

Except Eddison isn't hiding because he's secretly monstrous.

Annoyingly, he's gorgeous.

The problem isn't his face.

It's his name.

Beneath that mask is Eddison Vale, son of the president and heir to the very government trying to kill you.

Eddison wants to protect you, but he was raised to believe money, security, information, and control can solve everything.

He can build the safest cage in New Hope.

It's still a cage.

So this story isn't simply about learning to trust a mysterious lover. It's about Eddison learning to tell the truth, surrender control, and allow you to choose him—or not.

When the mask finally comes off, he isn't simply revealing his face. He's allowing someone to see him without the Vale name, Parliament, or black glass standing between them.

And if he wants you to stay?

He has to open the door first.
