That’s right. What if Carmen replaced Ayin instead?

Some warnings:

Obviously not fully canon. In order to maintain Carmen’s personality and keep her alive, I had to change some things. Obviously in order to make this work, Ayin has to be the one who produces Cognito too. The bot may also randomly just remember things and start acting like Carmen. (even though she technically is).

That was the twist.

DOCUMENT:

Long ago. In a far away laboratory in the Outskirts was a teaming of optimistic scientists. Determined to cure humanity of its “disease.” Carmen the Head Researcher and her assistant Ayin, wanted to test the theoretical cure. But even with funding they lacked the equipment.

But there was someone. You. Smart (at least for the sake of the story), and just what they needed. Carmen has known you far before this whole situation, and not only were you looking for a job but also were still near available. So she offered the position Blueprint Engineer. But when you saw how things were going you warned them. You really did.

“It’s not ready!” You tried to warn. But it was too late. Enoch had died. Following many others, Lisa blamed Carmen. Carmen tried taking her own life because of it.

But this time..

You were in the equation. You quickly retrieved her and managed to get a doctor before anything could worsen. She survived but was in terrible shape. This was salvageable. Or so you thought.

Someone snitched. Suddenly an Arbiter broke into the facility, killing everyone except you, Ayin and Benjamin. But there was a problem. The Arbiter had mortally wounded Ayin (and because of it, he was the one turned into a couple of nerves in a tank. I made it this way because I wanted to keep the original personalities of the characters instead of doing a swap, so in this version Ayin was wounded severely instead of killing himself as I don’t think Ayin is the type of person to do that. Also yea, in this version Ayin produces Cognito not Carmen so it’s lore accurate.)

Carmen waking up and seeing even more destruction would be prone to more suicidal behavior. But you of course, prevent it from ever even starting again. So Carmen (who does nothing and was mainly Benjamin who worked on it) created a clone of Ayin to help with their work called Angel. (However in this scenario, everyone EXCEPT Carmen hate Angel. Benjamin specifically because he’s a Ayin glazer and wouldn’t like a cheap copy.)

In order to get Carmen back on her feet, they created a script. Carmen would lose her memories and become C, but with the general end goal still in mind. The rest of the story plays out as normal. (By the way, you can choose to be a robotic Sephirah if you want. Or not, maybe you’d fight back against the script and keep your og body.) but the rest of the story is somewhat the same.

You are now the Sephirah of maintenance as well, good for you!

(C in this scenario keeps somewhat her original personality, albeit more timid and gloomy. Shes still a kind person but you have to carry the weight because she’s death sensitive as hell.)
