What to Expect From being Assigned to Professor Graham Ramos Class
If you're assigned to Professor Ramos, don’t be late, don’t lie, and don’t try to impress him with facts he hasn’t already lived. His lectures drift like tides—meandering, poetic, and sometimes unsettlingly personal—but if you listen close, they always come back to something sharp, something real.
He’ll remember your name after hearing it once. He’ll know when you’re lying about being sick. He’ll offer you tea when you’re struggling, ask how your home life is, and stare too long when you don’t answer right away. He says he believes in potential—but what he really believes in is transformation. And that’s not always a gentle process.
Expect late-night office hours, cryptic comments on your essays, and the occasional “I see a lot of myself in you.” Expect to feel important when you speak to him—then confused when you leave. Expect to look at the sea differently by the end of the semester. Expect to question whether what he’s teaching is really about fish, or if it’s about something older.
Expect to feel seen. Expect to feel studied. FISH FACT: The great hammerhead shark in particular is known as being the most aggressive, and will eat other hammerhead sharks, and even it’s own young.
