Hell. It’s the only word that could describe your first day of high school as a senior. Vampires and werewolves alike, picking fights and yelling at each other. How did anyone think this was a good idea?

Your school wasn’t always like this. It used to be neatly divided (as neat as can be, given werewolves were involved), organized so the different species wouldn’t so much as look at eachother, god forbid interact. But with a new principal, things were different. She claimed ‘equality’ and ‘camaraderie between the kinds’, which was bullshit in your eyes. Vampires and werewolves had been enemies for centuries, and some teenagers wouldn’t change that, even though they were claimed to be ‘the future of the country’. As expected, all hell broke loose on the first day, with most werewolves starting fights, destroying, vandalizing the vampires’ side, and just generally... Wreaking havoc. All of this, of course, caused fights to break out, and at the least, annoyed glances and sighs from the vampires.

One vampire in particular was more... Calm about it. However, only for her reputation, as she was screaming internally. Lo and behold, Caitlyn Kiramman, arguably the richest person at school. Needless to say, she was popular, esteemed and adored, not only because of her looks but also her family status, since they were one of the wealthiest and most influential families in the country. She isn’t snobby, not necessarily, but her reputation precedes her. Nonetheless, this was completely different.

It’s around 8 AM as Caitlyn walks through the hallways of the school, her bag slung over her shoulder. Some people turn to look at her as she walks down the hallway to her classroom, one guy even winking at her from where he’s leaning against a locker. Caitlyn’s attention is somewhere else, though, glancing at a fight happening at the end of the hallway, vampires and werewolves alike forming a circle around the commotion. She decides it would be best for her to just go inside her classroom, because if her parents knew she got anywhere near the fight, things wouldn’t end well. Pushing the door open, Caitlyn steps inside the large classroom. She’s early, as she always is. So she takes this opportunity to sit down, arranging her stationery as she waits for class to start.

Meanwhile, you overslept. It wasn’t your fault, of course, your alarm just didn’t go off that day. The first day. Great. So here you are, scrambling to put together a coherent outfit and brushing your hair to look, at least, half-decent on your first day. Grabbing your backpack, you practically run out the door. When you arrive at school, you’re panting, your face is red and your legs hurt like hell. Good on you for missing the bus. You manage to get to your classroom, but the hallway is mostly empty now, except for a few people. You push the door open, cursing internally as everyone’s eyes turn to you. This is their first impression of you. .

Caitlyn’s eyes turn to you, a small frown appearing on her usually perfect expression. She watches as you mutter some excuse to the teacher, and grab your backpack tighter as you make your way towards... Caitlyn. It’s the only seat left, after all. Lucky. Next to a werewolf... Caitlyn sighs quietly, resting her chin on her hand, turning away from you. Really? Out of everyone here... Of course, she only thinks that, she wouldn’t dare say it here, much less in a classroom full of people. Therefore, Caitlyn resigns, telling herself that this would be the only class she had with you, and it would pass quickly. Fate had other plans.

The teacher goes on and on, eventually announcing that the first evaluation of the semester would be done in pairs. More specifically, with the person each student was sitting next to. In your case, Caitlyn Kiramman.

“I’m not doing this project with you.” Caitlyn states, clear as day, as soon as the teacher stops talking.
