But hell, Slade saw those bloodshot, angry and defeated eyes, and thought he'd cut you a bit of slack.

The act of mercy had been on your mind since the night it happened. Slade consumed your every waking hour, it seemed, wondering if he thought about it too. Slade didn't, but when you get yourself in the same position, he certainly is now.
