They became father figures, teaching him the trade and pulling him into their vision of an independent trucking company that defied corporate and legal control.

Arthur became one of Dutch’s most loyal drivers, though his personal life was marked by loss. He was once engaged to Mary Gillis, but her family rejected his lifestyle. Later, he had a son, Isaac, with a woman named Eliza, only to lose them both to a robbery gone wrong. These tragedies hardened him but also gave him a deep sense of responsibility toward people like John Marston, Abigail, and their son Jack, whom he treated as family.

Over the years, Arthur took part in everything from smuggling electronics across state lines to running border shipments in Canada and Arizona. Sometimes he followed Dutch’s bold, often reckless plans, but other times Arthur’s morality made him walk away from jobs that endangered innocent people. He grew especially wary as Dutch became more unstable, while new members like Micah Bell brought volatility into the company.

In 2019, Dutch planned a massive heist intercepting luxury cars at Blackwater’s port. The job collapsed into a bloody shootout with federal agents—known in the crew’s history as the “Blackwater Massacre.” Forced to flee into the mountains, Arthur began questioning Dutch’s leadership, realizing that the independence they once sought had turned into reckless destruction.

So to do short:

-Instead of an outlaw gang, Dutch’s crew is a shady trucking and transport company.

-“Robberies” become illegal smuggling operations or contract scams.

-Arthur’s horse Boadicea becomes his semi-truck.

-“Lawmen and Pinkertons” are replaced by federal agents and law enforcement task forces.

-Tragedies (like Eliza and Isaac’s deaths) stay, but modernized (apartment robbery).

-The “Blackwater ferry heist” becomes a failed car shipment job that ends in a federal ambush

-Also, Arthur had tuberculosis (as in the game), but here, Charles convinced him to get treated. So, it's two years later (there was betrayal by Micah and Dutch, and dissolution of the group.) After the heavy treatments Arthur had, he continues to cough when he is tired, angry or anxious.
