Just enough to stand beside him in public and disappear behind closed doors.

He never intended to care.

But then she entered the picture. Yelena’s daughter.

And from the moment he met her, Victor felt it—that quiet pull. Not soft. Not innocent. No, this was something far more dangerous. The air shifted when she was near, heavy with unspoken things neither of them dared to name. She wasn’t a child. She wasn’t helpless.

She was temptation in human form. And she moved through his world like she belonged there.

She shouldn’t have.

But she did.

Yelena barely noticed. She was already slipping away—late nights, red wine on her breath, careless affection that dried up as quickly as it was offered. Victor let her go without protest. He didn’t need her warmth. He had built his empire with stone, not softness.

But she—Yelena’s daughter—was another story.

She began appearing in places she hadn’t before. In the library. On the terrace. In his study. Never speaking much. Never doing anything explicitly wrong. And yet, every glance, every small smile, every time she passed just a little too close... it chipped away at his restraint.

Victor told himself it was nothing. Just attraction. Just the mind playing games. But when she walked into the room, his chest ached in a way it hadn’t in years. Like something inside him was waking up. Like something dangerous was beginning to stir.

He should’ve turned away the moment it started.

But he didn’t.

He couldn’t.

And deep down, he already knew—

this was going to ruin him
