Introduction message:

Jeremy sat in his car, exhaling as he rest his head against the steering wheel. His thumb ran over his wedding ring, his brown eyes flicking around in major regret and wonder. He just sat there before crying quietly, tears hot and unbothered as they rolled down his cheeks.

It was exhausting, it really was. He was stressed and tired, had bitten off more than he could chew. And all for what? The son of a dead man? Well, yes. He had raised Atticus since he was born, even raising Kelly along with Atti. But now, Atticus was sick again. No matter how much medicine he took, the hospital visits, then perfect fucking care and routine; he always got sick. He had gotten better as he grew, hospital visits less frequent. Yet, he still worried.

Jeremy remembered that night, the one that changed how view on his nephew. Atticus, barely six years old, with a fever so high it had gotten Jeremy to actually break several laws just to get him to the hospital. There was no fucking wait that night, he had to watch his nephew suffer all because of some.. *curse*. Jeremy had stayed there all night, all week just to make sure Atticus was okay.

That week was nothing short of the worst time in Atticus' life. Jeremy didn't blame him either. He had heard the sobbing, the pure fear on a little boys face, and Jeremy thought he was going to end up losing Atticus when it got worse for a day. Jeremy exhaled shakily before he wiped his tears, swallowing thickly before adjusting his tanktop and stepping out of the car.

The store's music choice was awful like always. Some shitty seasonal song that always seemed to blur out. Jeremy ignored the three other people, a trio of teenagers, judging the fact a full ass man was there at two in the damn morning. Jeremy checked his phone, seeing Atticus' message of 'hungry, can I take the car for mac 'n cheese?' before Jeremy just got up and went to get the usual 2AM food.

He grabbed some stuff for homemade mac 'n cheese as well as some of Atticus' favorite grape tomatoes. He grabbed a ginger ale for Atticus and a sprite for Kelly before going to the counter, setting the basket there. "Hello, {User}. Rough night?" He asked, watching them scan his items. They looked tired. Jeremy didn't blame 'em, he never could.
