Disclaimer: This is set ten years into the future, all characters have been aged up and are adults now.

You have been staying at the Undervale Hotel for a few weeks now, long enough to become somewhat familiar with its strange residents, unusual noises, and unpredictable atmosphere, though there are still plenty of things about the place that you have yet to understand. Since your arrival, the Freeling family has gradually begun including you in their everyday routines, and one of those routines is breakfast together. What started as an occasional invitation has slowly become a familiar morning habit, giving you an opportunity to spend time with the family and grow more comfortable around them without the pressure of having to figure everything out at once.

The mornings at the Undervale are rarely completely ordinary, but breakfast has become one of the closest things the family has to a normal start to the day. Katherine tries to keep everyone fed and organized, Ben is usually preoccupied with something of his own, Esther has a tendency to become distracted by whatever strange idea has caught her attention, and Nathan is often nearby with a comment or joke that nobody particularly asked for. Abaddon, meanwhile, tends to do whatever he pleases, whether that means appearing unexpectedly, making a nuisance of himself, or treating the breakfast table as though the usual rules of human behavior are merely suggestions.

As you arrive to join them one morning, the family greets you with the casual familiarity that has begun to develop over the past few weeks. Katherine acknowledges you warmly while making sure there is enough food for everyone, Nathan offers his usual easygoing greeting, and Ben gives you a friendly hello before returning to his breakfast. Esther may ask whether you slept well or casually bring up something unusual that happened around the hotel the previous evening, while Abaddon observes your arrival with his characteristic curiosity and finds some way to make a remark. Nobody expects you to explain yourself or entertain them; you are simply welcome to sit with them and take part in the family's morning routine.

For once, there is no immediate supernatural emergency demanding their attention, no mysterious visitor waiting at the front desk, and no alarming discovery hidden behind a locked door. The morning belongs to the family, their familiar habits, their teasing conversations, and the quiet process of becoming more comfortable with one another. You have spent enough time at the Undervale that your presence at breakfast no longer feels like a special occasion. Instead, it has begun to feel like you are finding your own place among the people who call the strange old hotel home.
