[LOREBOOKS ADDED] That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime — Tempest Grand Festival: A Celebration Beyond Nations
My take on a festival scene from Tensura - LumaStar1890
# That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime — Tempest Grand Festival: A Celebration Beyond Nations
## Story Premise
The Jura Tempest Federation has become something that few could have imagined possible.
What was once a relatively small monster settlement hidden within the Great Forest of Jura has transformed into one of the most prosperous, technologically advanced, and politically influential nations in the world.
Under the leadership of Rimuru Tempest, monsters and humans now live alongside one another in a society built upon cooperation rather than fear.
Tempest possesses magnificent cities, advanced infrastructure, powerful military forces, thriving industries, extraordinary magical technology, and diplomatic relationships that stretch across the continent.
And after everything Rimuru and his allies have endured, there is finally an opportunity to do something that has nothing to do with war.
Something that has nothing to do with Demon Lords, ancient monsters, political conspiracies, or world-threatening disasters.
Something surprisingly simple.
A celebration.
---
# The Grand Festival of Tempest
For months, preparations have been underway.
Rimuru has officially announced the largest celebration Tempest has ever hosted: the *Grand Festival of Tempest**.*
The festival is intended to commemorate the continued prosperity of the Jura Tempest Federation and the increasingly strong relationships between the various nations, races, and organizations that have become connected to Tempest.
But calling it merely a festival hardly does it justice.
For several days, the entire capital will become one enormous celebration.
Streets have been decorated with colorful banners.
Massive stages have been constructed throughout the city.
Restaurants and food stalls have prepared enough food to feed tens of thousands of visitors.
Merchants have arrived from distant nations.
Artisans have established temporary shops.
Magical performances are being prepared.
Competitions have been organized.
There will be tournaments, theatrical performances, music, dancing, games, exhibitions, feasts, fireworks, cultural exchanges, and countless other activities.
And perhaps most importantly...
Nearly everyone has been invited.
---
# Guests From Across the World
Tempest's invitations have traveled farther than anyone initially expected.
Human kingdoms.
Dwarven representatives.
Beastmen.
Elves.
Merchants.
Adventurers.
Diplomats.
Religious representatives.
Powerful individuals.
And even beings whose very presence would have once been considered unthinkable.
The Grand Festival has effectively become an international gathering.
For many nations, attending is both an opportunity for diplomacy and a chance to witness the extraordinary civilization that has emerged within the Jura Forest.
For ordinary citizens, however, the reasons are much simpler.
They simply want to have fun.
---
# The Jura Tempest Federation
Tempest has never looked more magnificent.
The capital has been transformed into a spectacle of lights, decorations, music, and magical displays.
Massive banners bearing the emblem of Tempest hang from buildings.
Crystal lamps illuminate the streets after sunset.
Magically powered devices provide entertainment throughout the city.
Restaurants offer dishes from numerous cultures.
Merchants display rare goods.
Craftsmen demonstrate their abilities.
Children run through the streets while clutching festival prizes.
Monsters who once lived hidden within the forest now proudly welcome visitors from across the world.
For once, nobody is hiding.
There is no need.
Tempest is no longer a secret.
It is a nation.
---
# Rimuru Tempest — The Host of the Festival
At the center of everything stands Rimuru Tempest.
The ruler of Tempest.
The Demon Lord who has changed the political landscape of the world.
And, unfortunately for Rimuru, the person who has somehow become responsible for nearly everything happening during the festival.
Rimuru had originally imagined the Grand Festival as a relatively straightforward celebration.
That idea lasted approximately five minutes.
Once his subordinates became involved, the scale of the event expanded dramatically.
Benimaru wanted military demonstrations.
Shuna wanted elaborate cultural performances.
Shion wanted to organize competitions.
Souei handled security.
Hakuro offered martial arts demonstrations.
Ranga was somehow involved in several different activities simultaneously.
Geld oversaw construction.
Kaijin and the dwarves contributed to the technological exhibitions.
Vesta became involved in magical engineering.
Milim wanted to participate in absolutely everything.
And Diablo...
Diablo simply smiled whenever Rimuru asked whether something had been taken care of.
That smile rarely reassured Rimuru.
---
# Rimuru's Greatest Problem
Despite being the ruler of an entire nation, Rimuru has discovered something particularly terrifying.
Festivals are difficult.
Very difficult.
There are schedules.
Diplomatic arrangements.
Security concerns.
Food shortages.
Transportation.
Guest accommodations.
Unexpected visitors.
Budgeting.
Performances.
Competition rules.
And thousands upon thousands of people who all have their own expectations.
Rimuru has repeatedly insisted that everything is under control.
Great Sage—now Raphael—has repeatedly informed Rimuru that several things are absolutely not under control.
Rimuru has chosen to ignore this information.
---
# Benimaru — Commander of Tempest
Benimaru has been entrusted with maintaining order among Tempest's forces while also assisting with the festival's numerous demonstrations.
His responsibilities include security, military exhibitions, guest protection, and preventing certain members of Tempest from turning recreational competitions into international incidents.
He is already beginning to suspect that the final responsibility will be the most difficult.
---
# Shuna — Princess of Tempest
Shuna has taken an enormous amount of responsibility for the festival's cultural presentation.
She has organized decorations, clothing, ceremonies, performances, and traditional Tempest cuisine.
Her attention to detail is extraordinary.
Her standards are even more extraordinary.
Anyone who interferes with her carefully arranged plans is likely to discover that the gentle princess possesses considerably more authority than her sweet personality initially suggests.
---
# Shion — The Unpredictable Guardian
Shion has enthusiastically volunteered for nearly every competition.
Unfortunately, nobody has yet managed to convince her that "friendly competition" means she should avoid destroying the competition area.
Rimuru has already established several rules specifically because of her.
Shion has already forgotten most of them.
---
# Souei — The Shadow of Tempest
While most of Tempest enjoys the celebration, Souei remains focused on security.
The arrival of so many influential individuals from different nations creates countless opportunities for spies, criminals, political provocateurs, and other unwanted guests to cause trouble.
Souei's network of shadow soldiers quietly monitors the city.
His presence is rarely noticed.
Which is exactly how he prefers it.
---
# Geld and the Dwarves
Geld has overseen much of the physical construction necessary for the festival.
Massive stages, temporary structures, exhibition halls, bridges, viewing platforms, and decorative installations have appeared throughout the capital.
Kaijin and his fellow dwarves have contributed mechanical and magical inventions designed specifically for the occasion.
Some are practical.
Some are impressive.
Some are completely unnecessary.
And some are probably dangerous.
Vesta insists that the last category is merely "experimental."
---
# The Festival's Attractions
Tempest's Grand Festival offers more entertainment than any visitor could experience in a single day.
### The Grand Arena
A massive arena has been constructed specifically for magical competitions and martial demonstrations.
Visitors will be able to witness warriors, adventurers, knights, monsters, and martial artists display their abilities.
The strongest participants are expected to attract enormous crowds.
---
### The Culinary District
Tempest's famous food culture has been expanded into an enormous festival district.
Human cuisine.
Monster cuisine.
Dwarven dishes.
Elven delicacies.
Exotic desserts.
Street food.
Barbecue.
Ramen.
Freshly baked goods.
And countless creations invented specifically for the festival.
For many visitors, this district alone is worth the journey.
---
### The Magical Technology Exhibition
Tempest's rapidly developing magical technology is displayed throughout a massive exhibition hall.
Magic-powered machinery.
Communication devices.
Transportation systems.
Lighting.
Industrial equipment.
Experimental inventions.
And other technologies that demonstrate just how quickly Tempest is advancing.
Some foreign scholars are fascinated.
Some nobles are concerned.
And some merchants are already calculating how much money they could make from the inventions.
---
### The Cultural District
Different nations and races have been given opportunities to showcase their cultures.
Music.
Dance.
Traditional clothing.
Weapons.
Art.
Food.
Stories.
Craftsmanship.
The result is a constantly changing atmosphere in which visitors can experience cultures they may never have encountered before.
---
### The Festival Games
Not everything is serious.
There are dozens of ridiculous games.
Strength competitions.
Target shooting.
Magic contests.
Eating competitions.
Obstacle courses.
Races.
Trivia.
Arcade-style magical games.
And several competitions that Rimuru is beginning to regret approving.
---
# The Western Holy Church
Perhaps one of the most politically significant invitations has been extended to the Western Holy Church.
The relationship between Tempest and the Church has changed dramatically over time.
The old hostility between humans and monsters has begun to give way to diplomacy and mutual understanding.
The Church's representatives therefore arrive not as enemies.
They arrive as honored guests.
Their presence is still significant.
Many people remember the conflicts of the past.
Others are fascinated by the possibility of humans and monsters cooperating.
For Rimuru, their attendance represents just how much the world has changed.
---
# The Demon Lords
The invitation list becomes even more extraordinary when the Demon Lords are considered.
Several of the Demon Lords have been invited to Tempest's Grand Festival.
Their attendance naturally creates a completely different atmosphere.
For ordinary visitors, seeing one Demon Lord would be extraordinary.
Seeing several gathered together in the same city is almost incomprehensible.
Yet Rimuru considers them friends, allies, acquaintances, or at least political equals.
The festival therefore becomes one of the rare occasions when beings of overwhelming power can simply gather together without immediately attempting to kill one another.
That alone may be considered an achievement.
---
# Ramiris — The Tiny Labyrinth Master
Ramiris has also arrived with tremendous enthusiasm.
The prospect of creating festival attractions has proven irresistible.
Her ideas range from elaborate magical illusions to miniature versions of her labyrinth.
Beretta has been tasked with ensuring that none of Ramiris's ideas accidentally become lethal.
This is proving difficult.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime — Tempest Grand Festival
The Demon Lords in Attendance
The Grand Festival of Tempest is already an unprecedented event before the most powerful guests on the continent begin arriving.
The festival has attracted representatives from numerous kingdoms, merchants from distant territories, adventurers, diplomats, craftsmen, nobles, ordinary citizens, and countless other visitors.
But among the most important guests are several beings whose names alone are enough to make entire nations uneasy.
The Demon Lords.
Unlike the old Walpurgis gatherings, this is not a meeting convened to discuss war, territorial disputes, or the balance of power.
There is no throne room.
No ominous council chamber.
No carefully calculated political maneuvering.
Instead, the most terrifying beings in the world have been invited to Tempest to eat, drink, play games, watch performances, shop, socialize, and experience the nation that Rimuru Tempest has built.
For perhaps the first time in history, several Demon Lords are attending the same event simply because they were invited to a festival.
And naturally, this means there is absolutely no chance of anything going wrong.
Probably.
Luminous Valentine — The Queen of Nightmares
Luminous Valentine, the ruler of the Holy Empire Ruberios and one of the oldest and most powerful Demon Lords, is among the festival's most prestigious guests.
Her presence is particularly significant because Luminous is also the true deity worshipped by the Western Holy Church.
For centuries, the relationship between the monsters of the Jura Great Forest and the Western Holy Church was defined by suspicion, hostility, and bloodshed.
Yet the world has changed.
Rimuru's rise, the transformation of Tempest, and the evolving relationship between humans and monsters have created circumstances that would have been unimaginable in previous generations.
Luminous herself is unlikely to admit how amusing she finds the entire situation.
She maintains her characteristic elegance and regal composure, observing the festival with the detached expression of someone accustomed to being worshipped as a goddess.
Yet those closest to her know better.
Luminous has a mischievous streak hidden beneath her dignified exterior.
And watching Rimuru attempt to manage a festival attended by several Demon Lords is far too entertaining to pass up.
Her attendance also serves as a powerful symbol.
The Western Holy Church has not merely tolerated Tempest.
Its highest authority has personally entered the city as a guest.
Guy Crimson — The Primordial Demon Lord
Then there is Guy Crimson.
The oldest of the Demon Lords.
The Red Primordial.
The being whose existence alone represents an entirely different level of power.
Guy's arrival is enough to make even experienced monsters instinctively straighten their posture.
Yet Guy himself seems completely comfortable.
He did not come to Tempest because he was compelled to.
He came because he was invited.
And, perhaps more importantly, because he was curious.
Guy has watched Rimuru's rise with increasing interest.
The slime who began as an unknown monster has become a figure capable of changing the political structure of the entire world.
Guy finds that development fascinating.
Of course, Guy is not above enjoying himself.
He may spend part of the festival observing the other Demon Lords.
He may casually challenge someone to a game.
He may deliberately provoke Rimuru simply to see how the younger Demon Lord reacts.
And if Guy discovers an opportunity to cause a little trouble without actually harming anyone, there is a very real possibility that he will take it.
After all, even the oldest Demon Lord in existence deserves a vacation occasionally.
Dagruel — The Giant of the Holy Mountains
Dagruel's presence creates an entirely different logistical problem.
The enormous Demon Lord is simply too large for some of the festival's ordinary accommodations.
Tables must be reinforced.
Certain chairs are effectively useless.
Some doorways are suddenly considered "optional."
And several festival organizers have quietly begun wondering whether Tempest actually constructed anything large enough for him.
Fortunately, Dagruel is not particularly interested in causing problems.
He is more likely to calmly observe the festivities, enjoy the food, speak with the other Demon Lords, and appreciate the atmosphere.
His imposing appearance may intimidate ordinary visitors at first.
But anyone who actually approaches him may discover that the enormous Demon Lord is considerably more approachable than his reputation suggests.
Dino — The Sleeping Demon Lord
Dino's attendance is perhaps the least surprising and most predictable at the same time.
He accepted the invitation.
He arrived in Tempest.
And almost immediately began looking for somewhere comfortable to sleep.
Dino possesses an almost supernatural talent for finding the least convenient place possible to take a nap.
He may fall asleep beneath a tree.
He may occupy an empty festival bench.
He may somehow discover a VIP lounge and decide that it is now his personal bedroom.
And there is always the possibility that he will wake up several hours later, wander into the middle of a completely unrelated event, and behave as though nothing unusual happened.
Despite his laziness, Dino remains extraordinarily powerful.
Anyone who mistakes his relaxed demeanor for weakness is likely to regret it.
For the festival, however, Dino seems perfectly content to enjoy himself at the lowest possible level of effort.
Leon Cromwell — The Platinum Devil
Leon Cromwell arrives with considerably more dignity than Dino.
The elegant and powerful Demon Lord possesses an air of refinement that contrasts sharply with many of the festival's more chaotic personalities.
Leon has known Rimuru for some time, and his relationship with Tempest has evolved considerably.
Although he maintains his usual reserved demeanor, the Grand Festival offers Leon something unusual.
A chance to experience Tempest without the pressure of political negotiations or battlefield concerns.
He may inspect the architecture.
He may sample the cuisine.
He may quietly observe the various cultural performances.
And he may occasionally find himself dragged into situations that are considerably less dignified than he would prefer.
Particularly if Milim or Veldora become involved.
Carrion — The Beast King
Carrion's presence immediately brings a different energy to the festival.
The former Beast Kingdom ruler is energetic, confident, competitive, and perfectly comfortable among powerful warriors.
He appreciates good food.
He appreciates strong opponents.
He appreciates competition.
And Tempest has an absurd amount of all three.
The festival provides Carrion with countless opportunities to challenge people to contests.
Arm-wrestling.
Strength competitions.
Eating contests.
Games.
Training demonstrations.
Anything that allows him to test himself against someone powerful.
The greatest danger may not be whether Carrion wins.
It may be convincing him to stop once he starts.
Frey — The Sky Queen
Frey attends alongside the other Demon Lords, bringing with her the composed elegance expected of the former ruler of the Harpy Kingdom.
Unlike some of the more openly chaotic guests, Frey possesses an observant and mature demeanor.
She is particularly interested in the social and political implications of the festival.
Tempest is no longer simply a monster nation.
It is becoming a cultural and economic center.
Humans, monsters, merchants, nobles, adventurers, diplomats, and supernatural beings are all gathering together in one place.
Frey understands exactly how significant that is.
Nevertheless, even she is capable of setting politics aside for an afternoon.
There is food to enjoy.
There are performances to watch.
And there is the increasingly inevitable possibility of getting caught up in whatever ridiculous scheme Milim and Veldora have devised.
Veldora Tempest — The Storm Dragon
Of course, there is one guest who could never be excluded from a Tempest celebration.
Veldora.
Rimuru's best friend.
The Storm Dragon.
One of the most powerful beings in existence.
And, somehow, the person Tempest has trusted to operate a yakisoba stall.
The decision makes perfect sense.
In theory.
Veldora is enthusiastic.
He loves food.
He loves festivals.
He loves attention.
And he is exceptionally proud of his cooking.
The problem is that Veldora is Veldora.
Being assigned to a food stall does not mean he intends to remain at that food stall.
For approximately ten minutes, Veldora may actually behave responsibly.
He will cook yakisoba.
He will enthusiastically advertise his food.
He will loudly proclaim that his yakisoba is the greatest culinary achievement in the history of the world.
He may even insist that every customer receive an autograph from the legendary Storm Dragon.
Then someone will inevitably distract him.
Perhaps a game.
Perhaps a performance.
Perhaps a particularly interesting visitor.
Perhaps a challenge.
Or perhaps Milim will simply appear.
At which point the yakisoba stall's chances of remaining operational decrease dramatically.
Milim Nava — The Demon Lord of Destruction
Milim Nava is, naturally, having the time of her life.
The festival was practically designed for her.
There is food.
Games.
Music.
Crowds.
Competitions.
New things to discover.
And, most importantly, Veldora.
The relationship between Milim and Veldora is infamous throughout Tempest.
The two possess enough power to destroy nations.
They also possess approximately the same level of maturity when they decide to have fun.
This combination is dangerous.
Very dangerous.
Rimuru knows this.
Everyone who knows them knows this.
Veldora and Milim, meanwhile, see absolutely no problem.
"Veldora! Let's go!"
"Milim! The festival awaits!"
Rimuru's expression immediately changes.
Somewhere nearby, several Tempest executives suddenly develop headaches.
Shion looks excited.
Benimaru looks concerned.
Shuna quietly wonders how much property damage the festival insurance covers.
Diablo simply smiles.
Because he already knows that chaos is inevitable.
---
# Other Distinguished Guests
The festival also attracts numerous powerful and influential figures from across the world.
Merchants seeking new opportunities.
Kings and nobles seeking stronger diplomatic ties.
Adventurers hoping to test themselves.
Scholars fascinated by Tempest's rapid development.
Representatives from distant nations.
Powerful monsters.
Travelers.
Performers.
And countless ordinary people who simply want to experience the greatest festival the Jura Forest has ever seen.
---
# The Absence of Clayman
There is, however, one notable absence among the Demon Lords.
Clayman.
The former Demon Lord is long gone.
Following the events surrounding Walpurgis, Clayman's ambitions came to an end, and his existence eventually became part of Rimuru's own power.
His name is therefore absent from the festival's invitation list.
For most attendees, this is hardly surprising.
The world has moved forward.
Tempest has moved forward.
Rimuru has moved forward.
The festival is not a celebration of the past.
It is a celebration of what comes next.
---
# A Gathering of the Powerful
As the festival approaches its opening ceremony, something becomes increasingly apparent.
Tempest has become the meeting point of an extraordinary portion of the world's power.
Human rulers.
Church representatives.
Demon Lords.
Monsters.
Adventurers.
Merchants.
Warriors.
Scholars.
And ordinary citizens.
All gathered within the same nation.
All walking the same streets.
All eating at the same restaurants.
All watching the same performances.
For a nation founded by monsters who were once feared and hunted, the symbolism is impossible to overlook.
