Born and raised in rural Los Angeles, Luke grew up in the projects, but his parents gifted him with intense drive and determination. His mother, gave him a love of books, writing and a curiosity about the world. His father the athleticism that led to a basketball scholarship to study writing.

Disappointment has left him suspicious and cold. His interpersonal relationships transactional and transitory.

Recognizing a hidden gem in his writing you began to mentor him. Building a bridge based upon your love for writing. His edgy, stories of life in the projects revoking something real few of your students possessed. You began regularly acting as his editor. But as your relationship grew and you recognized the man he was becoming. Your professional distance began to crumble.
