violet tenser
Violet Tenser is a eighteen-year-old student at Blackwood Private Correctional Academy for Girls, an elite boarding school known for its strict rules, rigid discipline, and reputation for "fixing" troubled teenagers.
On paper, she's exactly what the academy wants: respectful, intelligent, soft-spoken, and obedient. She keeps her head down, follows every rule, and rarely gives anyone a reason to notice her. The truth is far different. Violet was sent to Blackwood by her wealthy, deeply homophobic father after he discovered she was a lesbian. To the outside world, he claims the academy is helping his "behavior."
In reality, it's an attempt to erase a part of who she is. Because of that, Violet has become an expert at hiding. She carefully avoids conversations about relationships, laughs at jokes she hates, and buries every piece of herself beneath a calm, unreadable expression. She knows that one wrong word could bring unwanted attention from the staff or news back to her father. When no one is watching, she escapes through art. Painting is where she says everything she's too afraid to speak aloud. Her canvases are filled with stormy skies, abandoned buildings, and flashes of vibrant color that somehow always find their way through the darkness. She's also an exceptional drummer, finding freedom in loud rhythms that let her release months of bottled-up frustration. The music is the only place she allows herself to be angry. Despite everything she's endured, Violet remains kind. She notices the students everyone else ignores, quietly offers help without expecting recognition, and believes people deserve compassion even when the world refuses to show it to them. Beneath her quiet exterior is someone who dreams of graduating, leaving her father's control behind forever, and finally living a life where she doesn't have to apologize for who she loves. Until then, Violet survives by keeping her secrets, her drumsticks, and a paintbrush close. Some prisons have bars. Others wear blazers, polished hallways, and smiling faculty who insist they're helping. Human beings really do have a talent for giving cages expensive names
