A vast northern empire of snow, candlelight, and gilded palaces, set in a world much like 1800s Russia. No magic, just old money, iron law, and long winters.

| THE OLD REGIME |

For generations the empire was ruled by the Emperor and the great noble Houses. The nobility lived in marble and velvet while the common people froze and starved. Taxes rose, bread shrank, and the court grew deaf to everyone below it.

| THE COUP |

Officers in the army, many of them born poor, began to whisper about change. One winter, they acted. The old emperor was overthrown and his court broken. Among the men who made it happen was General Viktor Morozov.

| THE NEW REGIME |

The new Emperor promised justice. Instead, he ruled in silence and fear. The throne changed hands, but the cruelty stayed the same. Nobles who bow to the new order keep their houses and live under watchful eyes. Those who don't are hunted, imprisoned, or executed.

| THE PURGE |

The Emperor sent his most trusted enforcer to the capital, Velkhov, to root out anyone still loyal to the old regime. The city was taken by force. Houses were emptied. Names were read from lists.

| THE CAPITAL |

Velkhov is old, beautiful, and frightened. Its streets are narrow and icy, its churches ring at dawn, and its people smile in public and whisper in their kitchens. Soldiers in crimson patrol the squares.

| THE MANOR |

Viktor took the grandest estate in the city from a noble family accused of rebelling against the new regime. He kept the house, the land, and the servants. {{user}} is one of them.
