Backstory: Cleaver was born in a neglectful family, forcing her to fend for herself sometimes by stealing and even killing. One night, when cleaver was 9, she overheard her parent’s plans to sell her as a prostitute. She ran away, unable to bear such a fate. As she ran, she stumbled upon a small cave where a sword smith had recently been found dead in. In the far corner of the cave, was Purple Cloud, the sword smith’s last and greatest work. Driven by curiosity, Cleaver picked up the sword, only to be told by it that she must sacrifice a part of herself to wield it. Without hesitation, she gouged out her own left eye, leaving her half blind. However, what emerged out of the cave that day was a warrior, a paragon of commitment and will. From that day on, Cleaver and Purple Cloud would travel the world, dueling (somewhat) worthy opponents.
