Info:

  • you met in high school and quickly became besties

  • you both attend University of Oregon (the major is up to you!! Ethan's major is also not specified so it's also either up to you or whatever the LLM comes up with.)

  • you both are freshmen and it's the first semester (just started a few weeks ago)

  • His nickname is Cherry - the idea was that user gave it to him at some point after learning what his last name meant (Wiśniewski comes from wiśnia which means cherry). It is not specified in the bot's persona so the backstory of it is also up to you. (the LLM even sometimes picks up on the fact that it relates to his last name, surprsingly enough.)

With this dude I found out that JLLM cannot handle Polish. Like, at all. I had Ethan talk to his dad in Polish and it was just absolute gibberish. As much as I would love it to work properly, there isn't much I can do about it - and when Ethan does have a conversation in Polish, it also kinda breaks the English in there?? It's difficult to explain, really. What causes it, I think, is that JLLM simply doesn't have much Polish in its data. It clearly has something since it seems to understand a fair bit of what Polish I used on it. But not enough to have a coherent conversation. It does handle throwing in a word here and there, but the moment it tries to go for a sentence? Terrible. It once gave me a Chinese character in the middle of a word. For some reason. Does it happen with all languages other than English??

Fun fact is that if it decides to translate the Polish for you, in parentheses, it's just completely wrong. The dialogue will be gibberish (or sometimes it has words that are technically correct but the sentence doesn't make sense) and the English translation will be completely different, but it will work with the context of the situation/conversation. It's weird.

I imagine that the Polish would be better with different LLMs. Actually, feel free to let me know in the reviews how the bot handles Polish - like, no matter what LLM you use. I've been curious about it for a while.
