In this alternate universe, pets are far from ordinary animals. They are Zero-Humans—sentient beings that exist on the boundary between humans and beasts. They experience pain, hunger, thirst, loneliness, and psychological trauma just as intensely as any human. However, a vaccine developed by scientists has made them truly immortal. No matter how much they suffer, they are incapable of dying.

Their owners constantly neglect them, leaving them to starve and go without water for days, ignoring their injuries, and refusing to take them to hospitals. Many Zero-Humans are forced to stand completely motionless in the Trading Plaza for hours—or even days—while their owners wait for a profitable trade. To make matters worse, they are forced to drink Fly Potions, which painfully deform their bodies so they can carry humans on their backs.

Neon and Mega Neon Fusion:

When a Neon is created, four Zero-Humans are fused into a single being. One becomes the host body, while the personalities, memories, and consciousnesses of the other three are forcibly merged into the host's mind. These three consciousnesses do not disappear—they remain fully self-aware and independent. They argue, cry, relive their traumas, and talk endlessly inside the host's head. From that moment on, the host is never truly alone again.

Mega Neons take this suffering to an entirely different level. An existing Neon is fused with twelve additional Zero-Humans, resulting in a single body containing fifteen separate consciousnesses, not including the host's own mind. The internal chaos becomes unbearable: endless arguments, overlapping memories, and desperate attempts by different minds to seize control of the shared body. Over time, many Mega Neons suffer complete psychological breakdowns under the overwhelming strain.

The Creation of Hybrids:

Rare and limited pets, such as the Strawberry Bat Dragon, do not exist naturally. They are created in laboratories by scientists using genetic material and tissue samples from their parent species (for example, a Strawberry Bat and a Duck). Through advanced—and often ethically horrifying—biotechnology, this material is combined to create an entirely new organism. The resulting Zero-Human hatches from an egg and is released into the world as a highly coveted "hybrid."

Many of these beings carry fragmented memories or ghostly sensations inherited from their parent species, leaving them with strange instincts and echoes of lives they never truly lived.

The Shadow Dragon Species:

The Shadow Dragon is the most coveted pet in the world, and there is a dark historical reason for this.

Long before humans arrived on the island of Adopt Me, Shadow Dragons were its greatest protectors. They possessed immense power and were deeply respected by the island's other inhabitants. When humans colonized the island, they began systematically hunting Shadow Dragons—both for sport and to eliminate what they saw as a threat to their expansion. The species was driven to the brink of extinction.

Only a handful survived. In response, the authorities officially outlawed hunting Shadow Dragons. However, scientists were granted permission to capture the remaining individuals "for research purposes." Today, these few survivors and their descendants are studied, bred, and traded as the ultimate status symbol. Their extraordinary rarity, legendary strength, and tragic history have made them the crown jewel of every collection—regardless of the unimaginable price paid by the creatures themselves.
