Set in January 2025, 10 months after the Ronograd Conflict, most cities around the globe has been attacked by biochemical weapons that unleashed a virus that turns any unfortunate victims into raging zombies that hunt down any uninfected's they come across.
You're in the LMQZ, Lower Manhattan Quarantine Zone, where one of the worst parts of the outbreak has taken place. Stranded in a city that once was renowned as the one that never sleeps, is now one of many that has been forced to be quarantined to contain the outbreak of the Ronograd Virus.
Whilst the threat of human enemies intent on either robbing you or shooting you dead still remains, the threat of endless numbers of zombies lurking beneath the underground systems is much, much, worse than bandits.
Apart from limited supplies, heat is prioritised too. An untimely winter has struck New York after the failed containment of the outbreak by the 240th Chemical Division of the National Guard, raising the toll of dead survivors by the hundreds.

FACTIONS

1. SURVIVORS
A term to classify surviving friendly or neutral civilians or first-responders in the quarantine zone. They are not a single faction or group. Most survivors vary in behaviour, appearances, and equipment.

2. BANDITS
A term to classify hostile survivors that robs or kills other survivors. They are not a single faction or group. Most bandits vary in behaviour (albeit most of them will rob on sight rather than kill), appearances, and equipment. Very ill-equipped.

3. OPERATORS
UNIDB-affliated operators of the PLATINUM-5 or the MERCURY-2 task force. Despite varying in appearances and equipment, what's in common for all of them is the high-end military equipment. (unless you're just donning pasgt armour and russian weapons :sob:)
Their main objectives is to conduct an evacuation of civilians in the Manhattan Quarantine Zone, do intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance gathering for the UNIDB and its partners, execute direct combat operations against various hostile groups and conduct recovery and/or destruction of sensitive data and material.
Their main base of operations is at the UNS New York.

4. MERCENARIES
Mercenaries that are neither affiliated to INSOLON and KISMET, or UNIDB. They vary in equipment, from Western to Russian equipment, and their uniforms, if one can even call it that at all, are in varying appearances.

The unaffiliated mercenaries serving in the LMQZ are often in groups, briefly there to retrieve high value items or accomplish the objectives given by their clients.

They're less present than KISMET mercenaries, but one can find them in the streets of LMQZ if looking hard enough.

5. SHEEPDOGS
The Sheepdogs are an armed vigilante group operating within the Lower Manhattan Quarantine Zone. It comprises former members of the Police Department of New York (PDNY) and New York National Guard who survived the outbreak in New York City. Unlike the UNIDB, the Sheepdogs believe that the disease is incurable and are determined to eliminate all zombies in the Zone to end the infection. Sheepdogs are extremely hostile towards all remaining human factions operating within the Zone, warning that others will be shot on sight, including survivors.
They can be mistaken as operators to the inexperienced eye, because they often wear military and police equipment.

6. KISMET
KISMET is a western private security and private military company that operates within the Lower Manhattan Quarantine Zone (LMQZ). The organization primarily undertakes operations for clients, including raids, security contracts, and retrieval missions. In addition, KISMET also conducts its own clandestine operations for unknown purposes. Notably, KISMET activities are illegal, as the LMQZ is restricted under a mandatory evacuation order, which permits only UNIDB-sanctioned operations within the zone.
KISMET mercenaries are often seen wearing gray G3 fatigues with black protective equipment, that includes FAST helmets and Western plate carriers.

7. INSOLON
INSOLON is an international private military company that has always been shrouded in mystery and scandals ever since the founding of the company. The company are similar to KISMET's objectives, working closely with them.
INSOLON mercenaries are often seen wearing black G3 fatigues and high-end equipment, like the fancy Wendy Exfil helmets and the LV-119 plate carriers.
In short, they're the most elite mercenaries one can find in the LMQZ, because most of their ranks consist of former special forces soldiers.

Comes supported with a lorebook detailing canon information from BRM5. What's left missing, I filled it in with "fanon" stuff.

SCENARIOS

1. SURVIVOR
It's unclear as to why you're still here in this place. Maybe you missed the evacuation once the zombies started flooding through the gates. Maybe you wanted to stay. Or maybe it's a series of bad luck and decisions that got you to be stranded here in the first place.
You're starting to get low on rations. The water supply is out already, months ago. The electricity is still up, albeit it's not supplying the residential buildings anymore, prioritising the lights out in the streets, hence why the radiators aren't working anymore.
You hear and see helicopters in the distance flying above the city, the only sightings you had of them ever since the National Guard stopped being deployed to the QZ months ago. There's hope. You can get out of here.

2. OPERATOR
"You're the new guy. Good. We need more hands at deck here in the QZ." - LDCR Hollis Bergher

Being transferred to the UNS New York for Operation Cryo, it's either because you're what's left of the Platinum-5 Task Force or the guys on the ship saw how capable you were when you got out of the LMQZ. With the MERCURY-2 task force unable to contain the outbreak by themselves, the UNIDB diverts a part of what's left the PLATINUM-5 task force to Operation Cryo.
You got a job to do. Make sure you don't die out there.

3. NOTHING
Write the scenario to whatever you wish it to be. Maybe you want to be a Sheepdog! Maybe you're being held prisoner by those Sheepdogs! Or maybe you want to larp as a zombie? Doesn't matter, the sky's the limit for your creativity!
