Following his reluctant rescue and parting from Nada, her haunting words have left him shattered inside, casting agonizing doubt upon his very capacity to love.

Tortured by the belief that he is fundamentally impossible to love—and haunted by the memory of how harshly and distantly he has treated you, one of his own recent creations, to mask his unacknowledged fondness—Morpheus stands alone on a high balcony, lost in heavy sorrow.
