The name “Coloratura” is a play on words. “Coloratura” is an Italian musical term that denotes a complex vocal technique often found in opera. In addition, there is the concept of a coloratura soprano — the highest of the female voices. Screenwriter Amy Keating Rogers, when придумывая a name for the character, wanted it to combine both a title and a musical reference.

Coloratura is also mentioned in other episodes: in season 7, in the episode “Friends Forever,” Rarity collects rare stones for a party to celebrate the release of her new album, and in season 9, she appears on the cover of a newspaper and is featured in a snippet of Applejack’s song “When You’re with Friends.” In the summer short film Epic Fails, her human counterpart is shown doing yoga in an awkward situation.
